I agree help is definitely needed!Hmm

Littlecherublegs · 21/06/2012 12:40

Ha, ha, thats brilliant!!
Esp. like Braelyn & Kailyn and De'vonte and De'onte???!!

I do know of twins called Faith and Hope over here in good old Blighty - wouldnt have been my choice though probably the 'best' from those listed.

I've only ever personally known of 2 sets of twins and they were Ian & Rachel and Ian & Stuart - obnviously Ian was popular twin name in the 80's??!!

My twins would be:
Joseph & Nathan
Chloe & Georgia
Nathan & Chloe

MagdalenaAlec · 21/06/2012 14:09

A friend of friend in NY called her twins Brooklyn & Chelsea and I know of a Sage & Basile set of twins too (in Florida). The last one is just stupid..

My favorite twins' names is my SIL's creation: Percival & Philippa (Percy & Pippa, they just go so well together, not sure I would be brave enough though).

TeddyBare · 21/06/2012 14:33

Magdalena, I read your SiL's suggestions as Percy and Pepper and thought she must have had a pig theme. Pippa is better but I still don't understand the matching names thing.

OP, what names do you like? I would definitely avoid having the same initial because that can be confusing with post and stuff later. Rhyming names or names which sound as similar as possible are just totally incomprehensible please don't inflict that on your dc. Do you want a theme with names? If you really really want a theme perhaps go for one a bit broader. You could choose "virtue" names - there was a recent thread about male virtue names. Or "space - related" names so you could have constellation names or something, e.g. Lyra and Leo (although same first letter). Or just don't have a theme and choose 2 names which you like.

PedanticPanda · 21/06/2012 14:36

They forgot to add salt and pepper to the list.

JustFabulous · 21/06/2012 14:39

And Fish and Chips.

GinPalace · 21/06/2012 14:52

seriously?

Perhaps better not to ask for opinions then. I am making an effort not to be too cruel honest

amck5700 · 21/06/2012 16:03

Just as well we didn't have twins as my OH went through a "Stella" and "Artois" phase.........I hope to god he was joking!!! I actually quite liked Stella but not with my surname!!

amck5700 · 21/06/2012 16:04

Maybe a british suggestion to go back with:

2 boys - Mark and Spencer??

PoppyWearer · 21/06/2012 16:21

Percy and Pippa? Surely that's a wind up?

Naughty naughty SIL!

Love Mark and Spencer!

Gavin and Stacey?
Terry and June?

MagdalenaAlec · 21/06/2012 17:16

I promise it is not a joke! Why would it one actually?
I would not go for it for obvious reasons (Percy) but Percival is a name I quite like and it has a nice literary reference. DH and his brothers decided they would not call him "Percy", so my nephew also gets shortened to "Pierce".

I don't think either that the names have to match, it seems just nicer but I am pretty sure I would give two very different names if I had twins.

Also heard in NY: Harper and Viola; Rose and Lily; Grischa and Misha
haha Mark and Spencer! I am sure there are sets called like that.

PoppyWearer · 21/06/2012 17:21

Sorry Magdalena ignore me. Probably best I say no more.

MummysLittleSunbeams · 21/06/2012 18:12

I don't know if it's just an American thing but they all seem to want twin names that match, or have the same number of letters, have the same initials, rhyme or the worst I've seen are when they have the same name but with the letters reversed such as Heaven & Nevaeh or Aidan & Nadia.. boak!

Hmmmm how about

Jack & Jill
Bill & Ben
Zoe & Chloe

Hmm

Bonnie and Clyde?! They have high ambitions for their twins.
I did say tell dp that if we ever had boy twins, they would have to be Bill and Ben.
I did know twins called Amanda and Andrew - their parents call them by their first name, but everyone else just called them Mandy and Andy. Don't they think these things through?

Badgerina · 21/06/2012 19:15

Dick and Fanny?

Somersaults · 21/06/2012 19:23

I taught a Leon and Leah pair.

NapaCab · 21/06/2012 19:34

'only in America'?

Hmm, I'm sure you would find parents with equally tacky name combinations in the UK. It's about people who are stupid and lack taste and there are plenty of those on both sides of the Atlantic!

Some US first names for babies that I've come across are very weird though, seem to be made up out of thin air.

KRITIQ · 21/06/2012 19:36

I grew up in America and yes, they do have a thing for rhyming (or similar sounding) twin names, or at least they did in the 60's and 70's.

In my class, there was a Terry and Gary (they rhyme if pronounced the American way.)

I also remember a Shelly and Sheila, a Kerry and Sherry, a Sharon and Karen, John and Don and Duane and Jane.

Oh My, I wish I didn't remember.

GnocchiNineDoors · 21/06/2012 19:37

Boris and Noris
Daryl and Carol
Maisie and Daisy
Harry and Barry
