I know it's weird. But I'm not a huge fan of Ks. Hence liking Catherine but not Katherine. And I love V names - Victor, Vinnie, Sylvie, Viv. Anyone else particularly like or dislike certain letters?

I like M and L names particularly; E and S too. Weird, isn't it? I've even trawled through those pages of baby books specifically!

Not so keen on G or D names. No idea why.

3boysgirlontheway · 20/06/2012 16:06

I like V, X and Z, only one of my 4 has a name containing any of those (Levi)

Tessa617 · 20/06/2012 17:47

I am not keen on 'K' sounding names like Crystal, Christy, Christine, Kristin - doesn't matter if they are spelt with a 'C' or a 'K' I don't like that hard 'K' sound. It could be because there are a plethora of people my age here (not UK) with names like these. Although strangely I would consider using the name Caris - seems softer, don't know why. Oh, and I also like names with double consonants (like mine, and DS and DD!). And I like names containing (but not beginning with) 'Z'.

sunshinejanuary · 20/06/2012 18:54

I often like names beginning with vowels!

StepOutOfSpring · 20/06/2012 19:10

Not particularly keen on a lot of B names.... Bernard, Boris, Beverly, Barbara. I like a few though - Benedict, Bethany spring to mind.

LaGuerta · 20/06/2012 19:41

O names. Maybe just because Oliver and Olivia are so popular.

RillaBlythe · 20/06/2012 19:43

I only realised after we called dd2 Greta that I don't like the letter 'G'! I'm getting over it.

However I really don't like the letter F.

AWomanCalledHorse · 20/06/2012 19:44

Ooh I hate K's too! K's & J's...basically anything with a hard sound.

I love V & B names.

Kaloobear · 20/06/2012 19:45

I love P names, and I also love combinations of vowels, like the ae in Michaela, or the au in Paul, or the oui in Louisa. I am weird Grin

mcfee · 20/06/2012 19:45

I don't like 'G' . I thought I was the only person who had this kind of weird thing Grin

susiedaisy · 20/06/2012 19:47

I like J G and E sounding names but I don't like O P and A sounding names

BikeRunSki · 20/06/2012 19:52

DH, DD and I are all AH Surname. Well DD is AAH Surname, so I'd say i liked As and Hs. DS is not an A or an H though.

stressheaderic · 20/06/2012 19:54

I have an aversion to K too.
I love 'th' in a name, it sounds soft and gentle and loving. Names like Matthew, Nathan, Ethan and Bethany (I have a Bethany).

Anonymumous · 20/06/2012 20:53

I don't like 'K' names for either gender. I don't like 'L' names for boys as it seems like such a girlie letter to me (probably because my own name starts with 'L'). I love 'J' names.

I have noticed, on reflection, that I seem to like the 'issa' or 'isa' sound for girls' names. As a child I liked Marisa, DS1 would have been Carissa, DS2 would have been Felicity... and yet when I finally had a girl I went for something completely different!

winkle2 · 20/06/2012 20:54

I like girls names that begin with A

Anonymumous · 20/06/2012 20:55

Just realised that DS2 is Isaac - another 'isa' and I didn't even realise it! Grin

UnSocialite · 20/06/2012 22:19

Another 'K' hater here! I don't mind the letter in a name, but hate it at the beginning or end.

abbypumpkin · 20/06/2012 22:36

I don't like B at the beginning although dd1 and myself have B's in our name and dd2 will do too!
Don't like any 'O' names but really love j names for boys. Also like the idea of z's ans x's.

Staceisace · 21/06/2012 00:48

I can't like any names beginning with J as boyfriend's surname is Jones. I honestly think I've trained myself out of liking J names for that reason. He'd better end up being the father of my kids then, eh?!

NoComet · 21/06/2012 01:02

Greta is lovely, but a lot of G girls names aren't and one of them bullied me.
F - Florence,Flora, Fleur,Fiona, ffion, oh dear

Ds I can't think of any good female ds, david is ok, but Dean, Derrick etc.

Ls a problem you get Lewis, Lauren and Lydia. Sorry lydia makes me think of those gingham jar lids. The DDs say its a nice name and I'm mad.

fluzle · 21/06/2012 10:15

I could never warm to 'N'... Confused

yellowflowers · 21/06/2012 10:20

Greta is a great choice. Lovely. Makes me warm to Gs.

I just realised all of mine have L in their name, never noticed it before.

Polkadotfanatic · 21/06/2012 11:03

Another K hater here - not necessarily the sound, just the letter - Much prefer the softness of a C for names like Cate or Catherine... as a Katy I can say that :)

I love girls names ending in 'a' and a large amount of the girls names I like begin with P - Phoebe, Polly, Penelope ETC

Boys - no preference...

Polkadotfanatic · 21/06/2012 11:03

actually 'hater' was a bit harsh - disliker would be more apt :)
