Any recommendations for baby name books

We're stumped on names, thankfully we've got about 20 weeks left. Think we'll have to go down the "go through every name under the sun" route so need a great names book.

Just had a quick peep at Ebay and there are so many.

Any recommendations?

Not a book but have a look on Nymbler. You put some names in and comes up with similar (some a bit strange though!)

Best one we had was free with a parenting magazine (unhelpful).

However, we also bought '40,001 Best Baby Names' by Diane Stafford. It was rubbish - don't buy it. She's got the number of names higher by adding in complete nonsense names - in all seriousness as far as I could tell - here are some of the boys names, with the meanings she's given in brackets, to give you an idea:

Chubby (American: oversized),
Chunky (American: large),
Far (English: traveller),
Studs(American: cocky),
Spunk (American: spunky),
Spike (American: word as name),
Six (American: number as name),
Spider (American: scary)

I know Americans can be a bit quirkier than the British when it comes to naming babies, but really. What kind of cruel parent is going to put 'Chubby', on a birth certificate?

There are normal ones in there too, but it's hard work sifting through the nonsense ones.

The Baby Name Wizard by Laura Wattenberg
Beyond Jennifer, Jason, Madison and Montana. What to Name Your Baby Now by Linda Rosenkrantz
Bring Back Beatrice by Jennifer Griffin
The Penguin Dictionary of First Names by David Pickering

I haven't read the last one but it has been highly recommended to me. The others I have and they have been really useful. The first two are American so ignore any information on how common the names are. It is great for suggestions though, you can look up one name you like and it will suggest others you might be interested in.
