Could you suggest some girls names to go with the surname Bull. My favs are automatically out as they just don't go. The more I think about it, the more names I seem to have to rule out when taking nns and abbreviated versions into consideration. Please help!

Amelia

Right now I like these names from the top 100:

Olivia
Emily
Anna
Emilia
Matilda
Freya
Ruby
Isla
Phoebe
Abigail
Heidi
Isabella

I know not all of them would work with Bull...I think a longer name sounds better with a short surname possibly?

What names was it that you liked but don't work?

footballallaround · 16/06/2012 23:39

I liked Molly and Phoebe but neither sound good. Also like Beatrice and Matilda which sound ok in full but not when shortened - don't know if this would be a problem though.

Agree with long names being better. Possibly with a 'a' or 'ee' sound to soften the 'b':

Arabella, Alexandra, Alyssa, Alexia, Alicia, Cecilia, Cassandra, Daniella, Eloisa, Elisaveta, Felicity, Francesca, Gabriella, Henrietta, Hermione, Isabella, Julianna, Jessica, Lydia, Matilda, Melissa, Miranda, Natasha, Natalie, Ophelia, Olivia, Philippa, Penelope, Rebecca, Rhianna, Rosalie, Rosanna, Samantha, Stephanie, Savannah, Sophia, Tabitha, Tallulah, Tamara, Victoria, Vanessa,

Something that doesn't end with a vowel sound will probably be best. Then you avoid the name sounding like a word ending in -able or -ible.

Think about the short forms as well. For example, Teresa would inevitably become Terry Bull :o

I think a longer, more feminine name would work well with Bull.

Like:
Felicity Bull
Violette Bull
Florence Bull
Madeline Bull
Beatrice Bull
Cecelia Bull

I've scrolled speedily past the other replies so I'm not swayed by them! The first names to spring to mind are:

Catherine
Felicity
