why is choosing a name this time sooo hard!!!

I am really struggling with names. My daughter is Maddison Skye and my son Ellis James. We found it easy choosing there names but this time its so hard and any names I like my partner does not like. We don't know the sex if baby yet. I liked Annalise foe a girl but family will shorten it to Ann and I don't really like that to much. Also like Ava but partner does not. And as for boys names we have no idea at all!! How did you manage to find the right name??? Xx

For me, it could not be a family name nor a religious name. Those very strict criteria leave few available.

It just seems every name I like someone we know has that name for there child and we don't want a name anyone else we know has. We do like different names but not really silly ones. Don't know why its so hard this time :-(

it just takes time, how many weeks are you?

I would each put forward ten names you like and wittle them down if no joy do it again, its the only way we came to the right name.

What sort of names does your partner like? Maybe we can suggest some which are a compromise between both styles?

I'm only 14 weeks so got plenty of time to decide. Think the list is a good idea. He can't decide on any names he just seems to like saying no when I think of some. If its a girl I want a pretty girly name and for a boy I do like unisex names like my son Ellis I love that name but I only know girls called it but it totally suits him.

Give yourselves both say a month for write down 10 names separately you both like. Then compare and get rid of what you don't like from others and from ones left either use or look up something similar

How about Payton, Isla or Farrah for girls or Cameron (won't always have PM connotation) Dillon, Idris for boys...
