Emilia but everyone hears Amelia

Both lovely names but we chose Emilia for dd and everyone seems to think she is Amelia, we use Emmie as a nn so that reinforces th "E" but not sure if it's worth correcting people when it's such a close sounding name?

I admit that I am not always a clear speaker and think that might add to the confusion.

Any tips on how to correct people gently and on how to emphasise the "e" without making it a massive issue (as it is becoming in my head as I thought this would be an issue when we considered names but dh convinced me it wasn't an issue)

Dd is 9 months btw :)

Just tell them "Emilia with an E". It's still a well-known spelling so people should know what you mean and probably won't think you strange for mentioning it. I know I always have to stop and think if it's a Emilia or Amelia - and Milly or Millie. Grin

I have a Marissa and she's constantly called Melissa. It's very annoying! She's 3. I don't think the difference between the E and the A is huge, they sound pretty similar when you're saying it fast. I wouldn't bother correcting all the time. Let her get used to it and just correct important people like teachers, good friends, but I wouldn't bother with people at toddler group or nursery people other than a key worker.
