Is there a way to check how many children have a name?

Is there a site where I can see exactly how many children in the UK are registered with a certain name? I know what name I want and IMO I think it's rare but want to check before taking the plunge!

I can't link as in iPhone but on the ONS website there is an an excel sheet with all names of babies registered in popularity order.

Here

Would be really interested to hear how many others have it, even if you don't want to share the name.

14 other children were given that name in the past 2 years so quite rare I thinkhope Grin

Oh, that's not bad. There were 10 babies last year with the name that we are considering.

Cool website queen of sheba! 23 babies called DD's name in the year she was born, bless Grin

My second choice has 0 babies with that name! Wonder how accurate the site is? Would be nice of she was the only one!

That site is from the Officevof National Statistics, and uses the information from registrars of all babies registered in a particular year, so it is is only going to miss babies who are not registered, which must be a tiny proportion. I have a friemd who is an ONS statistician, and he is the geekiest stats pedant going, so there'll be no human error!

OO that's good to know, so it looks like my second choice probably doesn't have any registered with that name! Grin

I think it only includes those names that were used at least twice, for privacy reasons apparently.
