To go with DS1 George. I like them all.

Your thoughts?

I always imagine what a 14 year old would be like. A 14 yr old called Ernest? Names that are cute for babies may not work out for a hollister wearing dj-wannabe teenage. I like Theodore. Theo is a cool name.

emmyloo2 · 31/05/2012 09:35

Yes that is what I try and imagine as well! Or a 25 year old out at a bar. "My name is [insert name], can I buy you a drink." Not sure Ernest would quite cut it!!

Theodore is my fave from your list - lots of options for nns too, so would suit all ages.

StepOutOfSpring · 31/05/2012 09:41

In order of preference...

  1. Theodore
  2. Albert
  3. Ernest
  4. Arthur

Ah! See I always think that most childrens names will be shortened or nn made for them.
So Ernest would be Ernie - which is pretty cool (well I think so......)
Albert to Berite / Albie
Arthue to Art
Theodore to Theo

My DH is George and he always liked that you couldn't shorten his name, so we thought long and hard and chose Hector but even at 7 he is know as Hec to his friends.....

ErnesttheBavarian · 31/05/2012 09:49

I think ernest is a fine name

emmyloo2 · 31/05/2012 09:54

Ernest - yes so do I! Is it your DS's name? I love it because it's old fashioned and just different from the bog standard names.

Message - love Hector!

gymboywalton · 31/05/2012 09:55

thodore shortened to theo is the only nice one
all rest terrible

AllRiseForHerVaj · 31/05/2012 10:02

I love Arthur.

Ernest isnt good, I really dislike the nn Ernie. So silly.

Theodore is lovely, but he will be Theo, which is everywhere.

Albert is OK. Alby is a great nn.

Love Hector!

emmyloo2 · 31/05/2012 10:07

AllRiseForherVaj - I just have to say - your nickname is fabulous!

Littlecherublegs · 31/05/2012 11:13

In order of preference:

Theodore - love Theo!
Albert - know one of these aged 1 and he's adorable!
Arthur - ok but too old manish for me
Ernest - dont like, sorry. Though the Albert I know is an Albert Ernest!

sugarspiceandallthingsnice324 · 31/05/2012 11:28

I think Arthur and George work best together.

WithACherryOnTop · 31/05/2012 11:59

Ernest is awful.

Theodore is great.

Albert is ugly.

I don't like Arthur,but it's marginally better than Albert.

usualsuspect · 31/05/2012 16:30

Theo is ok

The rest are awful

noddyholder · 31/05/2012 16:32

I like them all too. Slightly biased to albert (bertie)or theo but they are all nice and go with george

Spottyfrog4 · 31/05/2012 16:48

Like Arthur and Theodore other two I dont like at all.

PestoPenguin · 31/05/2012 16:50

Theo!

MoonHare · 31/05/2012 17:33

In order of preference (though to be fair think our taste in names is very different);

Theo - Theodore - like this one best
Arthur - while old manish it also has strong King Arthur connotations, which is good
Albert - Didn't used to like this but it's growing on me (a bit). Bert/Burt can sound quite strong I suppose; Burt Lancaster, Burt Reynolds. Bertie is too cutsie.
Ernest - Really don't like this one, Ernie the fastest milk cart in the west.

ErnesttheBavarian · 31/05/2012 18:03

No, ds not ernest - It's German for serious, and my ds always had such a serious look on his face people used to comment about how 'ernst' he was. And it was n my mind when I had to choose a new nickname, and my finger slipped, so instead of ernst I accidentally called myself ernest.

Back to the list, serious answer is of the 4, Theodore would be my favourite.

missingmymarbles · 31/05/2012 19:09

Arthur Smile
I would have had Arthur but DH said no, and besides, we are having another girl Grin

Lexiesgirl · 31/05/2012 19:14

Arthur, Arthur, Arthur.

Any potential DS's would be called Arthur if DD wasn't already an 'A' name.

Anonymumous · 31/05/2012 23:05

I love all of them - four of my favourite boys' names right there! :)

randomimposter · 01/06/2012 07:31

with George it's gotta be Arthur, but I also like Albert. Not so wild on the other 2.

noddyholder · 01/06/2012 07:56

Ernest baker is super cool!

emmyloo2 · 01/06/2012 08:21

It really is amazing how people's tastes differ! I swing from one to the next....
