I wouldn't have given this name a second thought but overheard someone calling their daughter in the library today and it caught my attention.
My dh was with me at the time and it is the only girls name suggestion that he has responded to positively so far.
What do we think?

Dd1 is Jemima.

ds is 9 and has an Astrid in his class, and nobody takes the mickey out of her name. To them it is a totally normal name.
I think it is lovely. I also think it might get more popular in the next few years. I like Ursula, Gretel and Ingrid too.

Astrid was one of our choices.

We went with Nancy in the end though.

Also really liked Adelaide, after watching Calamity Jane.

I like Astrid and think it goes well with Jemima. What about Annika, she is Pippi Longstocking's friend, written by Astrid Lindgren :)

I love Astrid, it was on my list of girls names.

I don't think I could get past the Annika Rice barrier unfortunately :)
