Girls names that go with Rose

My dd will have Rose as a middle name after paternal and maternal grandmothers but we are stuck on a first name. My shortlist is:

Harriet
Lucy
Ffion
Mair (pronounced my-er welsh for mary)
Amy - not overly keen
Ellen

Opinions please and other suggestions welcome.

I like Harriet

Katy Rose has a nice ring to it

I also know an Elysia Rose

Lilka · 30/05/2012 13:57

I love Lucy Rose or Mair Rose

I think short names can sound really lovely in general

Stellan · 30/05/2012 14:25

Nearly every name works with Rose as a middle name.

reastie · 30/05/2012 14:27

Florence Rose oh wait that's already been done by David Cameron Wink

Harriet Rose I think sounds really nice

edwardcullensotherwoman · 30/05/2012 14:31

Lucy and Ffion are lovely. Lovely choice of middle name btw - my DD is due in a few weeks, she'll be Evie Rose. From my experience so far Evie is a love/hate name, but everyone always says they like Rose.
Mair Rose is nice but doesn't seem to "flow" IYKWIM?

PotteringAlong · 30/05/2012 14:32

Flora?
Charlotte?
Elizabeth?
Lowri?

Littlecherublegs · 30/05/2012 14:34

Most names will probably work with Rose as a mn.

I like Lucy Rose and also know an Erin Rose.

anychocswilldo · 30/05/2012 15:52

Would u not think about using Rose as a first name? It's so beautiful! I would have used Rose as a first name for dd1 but my niece is Amelia Rose which is lovely.

Lunarlyte · 30/05/2012 15:56

A girl I know is Leah Rose - she's gorgeous: long red hair and big blue eyes. Very nice person to boot :)

FeministPixie · 30/05/2012 15:56

Ffion Rose sounds pretty, and Mair Rose.

Elizabeth was my first thought on looking at the thread, but I also agree with the Rose being a beautiful first name. It's classy and timeless and not as over-used as Lily

Lunarlyte · 30/05/2012 16:01

I quite like Mair Rose, btw, but then I do have a penchant for some Welsh names and the sound of Mair.

I you're in England, the spelling of Mair might give your DD some problems: if you just like the sound of the name (rather than because it's Welsh or you like it's specific meaning) then what about

Maya Rose
Maia Rose (pronounced 'may-ah)
Mia Rose?

lovemygirlivy · 30/05/2012 16:34

Harriet Rose

Other suggestions:
Felicity Rose
Lillian Rose
Violet Rose
Maisie Rose
Beatrice Rose
Matilda Rose
Amelia Rose
Emelia Rose
Jemima Rose

Lunarlyte · 30/05/2012 16:37

Ooh, I love lovemygirlivy's suggestions, particularly

Matilda Rose
Maisie Rose
Lilian Rose

reastie · 30/05/2012 16:42

Lots of our girl name possibilities love has mentioned - not sure now if I have popular taste or just similar taste. Thing Felicity Rose sounds lovely as does Beatrice

HexGirl · 30/05/2012 16:46

Cecily Rose

reastie · 30/05/2012 16:52

hex Elizabeth Rose - that sounds absolutely lovely

EMS23 · 30/05/2012 16:55

I will be calling my DD2, due Sept, Seren Rose.

I also think Rose works with most names and I'd love it as a first name but my DH has vetoed it.

littletomato · 30/05/2012 16:58

I like Emily Rose.

ButtonBoo · 31/05/2012 21:29

My DD was nearly Isla Rose. We went for Isla Amber in the end.
