...I had so many girls names that I loved I was spoilt for choice but then we found out he is a boy (due Sept). So far this is the short shortlist, I look forward to any feedback and/or alternative suggestions:

Leo (husband's favourite so far)
Felix
Joseph nn Joe (my favourite so far)
Jonas nn Joe
Dylan
Rudy (not sure if we have the nerve)

I like all your ideas except for Dylan and Rudy.

Hard to pick a favourite of the others but possibly Joseph, I would have named DC2 Joseph had she been a boy but 1. she's a girl and 2. my brother beat me to it and named his DS Joseph. But it's probably considered to be a bit 'safe'.

Also really like Leo and Jonas.

well i have a Dylan and Rudy but we spell it Rudi so i love both of those

Reuben is nice, i also like Sonny. What about Theo if you like Leo? similar but different (i also have a theo!) :)

we always had a list and then waited to see what baby looked like, Dylan was never even on our list but ds3 looked like a Dylan and he just is deebydyl now at 7 :)

Someone at work has used Noah as a middle name - I haven't heard this recently but really like it :) Another child at work is named Leon - like that too.

That's funny, Sanbar, we have both Leon and Noah babies at my work. I do like them, Leon more than Noah.
I think we might have to strike Rudy off, as much as I love it and am envious of you 5madthings! I don't think we could carry off a Wyatt or Julius either! Thanks for the input so far though. We don't want to ask for opinions from our nearest and dearest as we want the name to be a surprise for them when he is born so this is definitely the best outlet and it looks like we are on the right track - our favourites from the list seem to be the most popular with you...

I like Leo best from your list (always struck me as a really stylish and cool name) Also like Felix. I like Joseph least - it's not unpleasant as a name but in my area at least it just seems to blend in to the wallpaper there are so many of them. However if you love it this won't matter I guess.

Thank you all so much!! I certainly feel a lot more enthused about boys names now. I think that it is between Leo and Joe (which I might start another thread about). And we now prefer Joseph rather than Jonas which might have been the result of watching too many Scandinavian crime thrillers. I do still love Felix but my husband and I are already ribbed for being so devoted to our cats and I think calling our son Felix might take the teasing a step too far! At least Leo is a more subtle acknowledgment of felines.
