Just wanted to clarify - would you pronounce Phineas as:

Finn - ee -us
or

Finn - aa - us

Do you think it matters either way - is there a right or wrong way.

There is a children's tv programme, Phineas, (Finn - ee- as) and Ferb. It's fantastic.

Fin-ee-us (and Ferb!)

tittytittyhanghang · 28/05/2012 20:46

Finn - ee - iss (as in rhyming with bliss) but i suspect that is my scottish accent coming out more than anything else :)

lovemygirlivy · 28/05/2012 20:48

So would it be really odd to pronounce it Finn-a-us

You'd (and they'd) have a lifetime of correcting people unless this is a pronunciation that's common where you live.

watfordmummy · 28/05/2012 20:50

but be prepared for people to say "where's Ferb!!

tittytittyhanghang · 28/05/2012 21:03

Would people really correct you, because i would just assume it was your accent. Like the scottish craig and the Canadian craig (where it rhymes with greg). Same name, just different pronunciations.

GnocchiNineDoors · 28/05/2012 21:06

Finn-ee-us. Anything else is weird. Why not just save the hassle and call him Finn?
