If DS was early, is this one likely to be as well?

DS was born at 36+6. I am currently 19weeks pg with #2. I was just wondering if this makes it any more likely that this baby will be early?

ds was 37+1 (I thought he'd be early so had given up work the day before)

dd 40+4 (I thought she'd be early so had left work 4 weeks earlier!)

so not always

First 37 weeks
Second 35 weeks. Would have bag packed by 35 weeks if I were you I was caught on the hop!

out2lunch · 19/05/2012 20:20

first 39 weeks
second 35 weeks

My friends first baby was born at 36 weeks and her second baby at bang on 40 weeks. Obviously this prove nothing but it does show that one doesn't necesserily follow the other!

Thanks for the replies. I'm a bit scared of going to 40 weeks Blush. I am a little person and I just can't imagine carrying a baby any bigger than DS was. I think I had him early because I just couldn't hang on to him any longer. He was only 6lb 50z but I was at my limit I'm sure.

My ds1 was 37 weeks, twins 35 weeks. I was correct to the day as all ivf and I agree with the body can't hold on to them theory-ds1 was 9 lb9oz and dtwins 6 and 7 lbs.

EverybodysSleepyEyed · 19/05/2012 20:47

That's what I thought when I was pregnant with DD - that I just held them in for a shorter period.

It made the last 2 weeks really stressful because I hadn't prepared for it!

Try not to set a time in your head and accept no 2 can be earlier or later.

And DD weighed the same as DS despite being 3 weeks later!

You'll be fine!!

dc1 37w
dc2 41w
so can go either way...

Flubba · 19/05/2012 20:52

DC1 39w
DC2 40w (on her due date)
DC3 41w

And each one was bigger, so I was convinced they were coming earlier. Shows how much I know! :)

mckenzie · 19/05/2012 20:53

no. DC1 early, DC2 two weeks late.

Re: being a little person. I am 5ft 2, and very petite. DS1 was 7.8lbs and I had no trouble giving birth to him. Midwife was surprised he was "big" for me. I found that funny - he was only a teeny bit over average! You'll be fine even if baby is a bit bigger this time.

mckenzie · 20/05/2012 11:05

I'm also quite petite (5ft 2 and size 8) and DC2 was 8lb 12 and just popped out. DC1 was much smaller and much harder work. Smile

Makingmama · 20/05/2012 11:12

dc1 - 34
dc2 - 40+4
dc3 - 40+11

AtAmber · 20/05/2012 11:22

Dc1 36+3
Dc2 36
Dc3 38
I was sure ds3 would be born at 36 weeks. I felt like he was overdue when I got to 38 weeks!
