What do you think of Barney?

We really like this name, but most people we tell laugh and say it reminds them of Barney the big purple dinosaur! What do you think?

My dopey dog is called Barnaby (Barnie for short) and it really really suits him. ....

One of my cats is called Barney (other is Boris), so I like it but not sure about for a child.

I know two adult and on child Barney and it suits all of them. I like it.

Amazing name if it suits you like the one I met, awful if it doesn't. And there is no way to predict. There really are names that suit people - forget this MN bullshit of "everyone grows into their name."

My sister's dog is called Barney. He was a rescue dog and named before she got him. Anyway, I am a little bit gutted as I love Barnaby/Barnabas.

My ds has Barney as his middle name. I love it but he moans about the association with a purple dinosaur. He would like us to change his name but I am sure he will come to love it when he is older. He's 12 btw.

i love the name barney but i think you also have to consider how harsh other children can be, and the connection with the big purple dinosouar....
