Congratulations!

All your name suggestions are very popular already, although I quite like Rose - feminine, simple and not as widely used as the others.

sugarspiceandallthingsnice324 · 13/05/2012 14:11

Congratulations, my favourite of your girls names is Amelia and my favourite of your boys names is Leo.

All your names are lovely though especially the girls ones - so it was really hard for me to choose my favourite.

CaptainHetty · 13/05/2012 14:13

Congratulations! How exciting :o

My favourites from your lists are Ava and Noah, but they're all lovely :)

GnocchiNineDoors · 13/05/2012 14:13

I'll put them in order, the ones I like:

Girls:
Rose
Ava
Scarlett
Amelia
Jasmine

Boys:
Noah
Harry
Isaac
Leo
Alexander

I love that they are perfectly sensible, normal names. Oh, and apart from on here beware of telling friends and family as they will judge and comment to your face which can make you go off your favourites. As someone told me on here people are much much less likely to offer a judgement or negative opinion after the baby is here.

What are your gut favourites? We went round and round a list of names and DD ended up being called the one we both said we loved first.

Hmmm...i'm hesitant to add as the ones you have are so lovely, but maybe would suggest Alice, Megan, Poppy / Jonathon, Christopher, Reuben

nelly83 · 13/05/2012 14:18

thanks Gnocchi - good advice. think we will keep the names to ourselves like u suggest (if i can!!) I love the name Reuben but DH doesnt! however there is plenty of time to work on him!! I am a teacher and so some names I cant have because they remind of children I've taught (not always a good thing lol!) so for that reason Megan and Christopher are out. poppy is nice but a friend has a daughter called that. Thanks for your suggestions.
I really like Annabel too but I have a nice called Isabelle. Do you think they are too similar? x

OP posts:
GnocchiNineDoors · 13/05/2012 14:24

No, not too similar, especially when you think of NN's as Isabelle will more than likely end up getting called Izzy, which makes it even less like Annabel.

We used to tell people "Shaniqua and Fortescue" when they asked what names we liked as a subtle "no, we are not telling" sort of thing

nelly83 · 13/05/2012 14:33

I like it. We might go for Basil and Cybil!! DHs main input on names so far lol!!!

Wow i love all your names, love ruben myself and ava and noah are lovely!can i ask what u think of mine?
i like freddie and alby for boys and jemimah, clodagh and holly (due in dec) for girls x

GnocchiNineDoors · 13/05/2012 14:37

Like Freddie, not entirely sure about Alby as if it were short ofr Albert I prefer Bert.

Love Jemimah, and we considered it for DD but it's my NN (my rl name is similar) and like Holly but prefer 'ie' at the end.

PinkChampagneandStrawberries · 13/05/2012 14:39

Congratulations and great name choices Grin

I like jasmine and Amelia the best
And I like all your boys names except Alexander!

abbypumpkin · 13/05/2012 15:02

My favourites are Scarlett and alexander . Love the nn Alex and Xander.

PicklesisScared · 13/05/2012 17:25

Oscar and Ethan re nice too x

MoonHare · 13/05/2012 17:40

Congratulations on your pregnancy, our first took 3 years too and was well worth the wait!

Like all your boys names except for Issac, though as a teacher you'll know how common Harry is - 3 in my 3.5 yr old DDs preschool group.

Like Rose but not mad about the other girls names, as someone else has said Amelia and Ava (and soundalikes Ella, Ellie, Evie) are very popular at the moment and I'm really not keen on Jasmine or Scarlett.

I found with both DCs that names I loved at the start of pregnancy had faded a bit by the end and others emerged. We're making vague shortlists for DC3 due in Oct but anticipating having several changes of heart along the way.

If you check this board regularly you'll probably get all sorts of new ideas for names you never knew you loved! People are very imaginative and knowledgable on here!

Also your DP may totally surprise you and change his mind about names he'd vetoed - mine did.

CarriMarie · 13/05/2012 17:55

Ava, Amelia and Rose are all very popular at the moment, so on that basis I'd go for Jasmine or Scarlett.

For boys I like Isaac and Noah. Congratulations by the way!!

perplexedpirate · 13/05/2012 17:57

I love Scarlett and Isaac.

Really dislike Amelia and Noah.

perplexedpirate · 13/05/2012 17:57

Oh yes, congratulations! Grin

winkle2 · 13/05/2012 18:00

I love all your names :) Congratulations!

fluzle · 13/05/2012 20:20

Lovely choices - especially Rose and Isaac, but really just wanted to say a huge congrats x

wheniwishuponastar · 14/05/2012 15:49

I like Scarlett, Leo and Harry best.

EliasRose · 14/05/2012 19:49

Isaac and Ava.

I have love love loved Isaac from a very young age, and so named my lovely son this name. He loves it, and is the only Isaac at his school.

There was an amazingly inspirational lady called Eva Markvort (pronounced Ava) so this is also a very special name to me. Good luck with the pregnancy (my second and third follow IVF tx so I know the heartache of waiting!) x

Lunarlyte · 19/05/2012 19:40

I think that all of the names you have in mind are lovely. It took us 2 years to conceive DD2 (also with the help of Clomid!) and she was born one month ago today lunargetstearyeyes

Really just wanted to congratulate you and wish you all the very best xx

Badgerina · 20/05/2012 09:42

Congratulations!

Your names are all quite popular, but that means their likeable names. If popularity doesn't bother you?

I have to say I don't really like Jasmine or Scarlett. They're a bit... stripperish Blush
