......big sisters Rebecca and Kristina?

Am 20 weeks with DC3 and just found out we are having a boy! DH is Northern Irish and I come from a very Scots-Irish family so we thought we'd go for a nice traditional Irish name. So far we like Michael, Patrick, Finn, Cormac but we were wondering if these sound too 'weird' considering our girls names are more 'classic?

What do you think? I know you lovely people can suggest some lovely Irish names, but am also very open to names you think go well with our DDs names?

Michael and Patrick are classic and fabulous names.

I personally would choose Patrick. I don't think there are many boys names better.

I love Patrick too.

Oooh you are both really swaying me towards Patrick now!
We got married on St Patricks Day so that name would be 'meaningful' too! Smile

Michael and Patrick are not 'too' Irish (i.e. not of Irish origin, but quite traditional in Ireland). Gabriel might be another in this group.

Irish names like Aidan or Niall (pronounced similar to Nile) or Sean are well enough known outside Ireland not to sound weird.

Ooooh, yes, go for Patrick. I like that!

I must be the odd one out, I think Finn flows really well with the girls' names, lovely name.

How about Tadgh, Darragh, Eoin, Connor, Donnagh, Ruari, Finbar, Fergal, Fiachra, Oisin, Odhran.......I'm from Ireland and that's what is popular at the moment

I love Finn and Patrick. Not sure which I prefer.

Patrick for me too. Aidan goes well with the dd's names as well I think

PestoPenguin · 12/05/2012 20:30

I think Finn is lovely and goes really well with your other names.

In order of preference...

Michael - classic, you can't go wrong
Cormac - like this (might be because it reminds me of Caramac though!)
Patrick - OK
Finn - too faddy and nicknamey
