Do we need to ask?

If DC turns out to be a boy, Thomas is both DH's and my favourite boy's name. However, friends of ours had a stillborn son whose name was Thomas. I think we should have a word with them and be clear we won't use the name if it will distress them; DH thinks I'm being silly. Any thoughts?

Thanks for your input, everyone. DH was a bit grumpy about it as Thomas is a family name (which I'd forgotten), but we're going to compromise by having it as a middle name. We've thought of a few alternative first names so just have to decide between them now. At least we have a girl's name picked (and no, it's not Thomasina or even Tamsin)!
