Using your surname as a middle name for DC

Hi, I have posted a thread about the problem I am having in deciding whether to give our DC my surname as part of a double-barrelled name. A couple of people have suggested using my surname as a middle name instead and was wondering if anyone else has done this - if so, what were your reasons and has it worked out ok.

What if your surname is very 'surnamey' -if you see what I mean - does this matter? When you registered did you put your surname in the first names box or in the surname box with the intention of it only being used as another middle name? Thanks

DD is due in 11 weeks and DH and I plan to give her my maiden name as a 2nd middle name. Since marriage I have kept my maiden name but will at some point double barrel by deed poll so that I can select whichever part of my name to use dependant upon the situation (professional vs. personal). To me, it's important that I have DD's and DH's surname featuring in my name, but I can't give up my maiden name completely - I've had it for a long time!
In the back of my mind I am also happy to be leaving the choice open for DD to double barrel if she wishes at any point.

We didn't do this for DS but I'm considering changing it by deed poll, but DD is FirstName MiddleName MyMaidenName OurSurname. We don't generally say my maiden name but it's on her birth certificate and I want to put my back into my name.

So my maiden name will eventually be "hidden" in all our full names. DS' middle name is after DH's cousin who would have been the only other male in his family to carry on the surname (all the others are girls who've changed their surnames upon marriage) and DD's middle name is after our midwife who delivered both DC
