Its at the moment between Hector, Dexter or Rudy.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hector was the first of the gang to die.

FrauGrau · 05/05/2012 21:09

Hector was very popular in Scotland at one time, considered a bit old-fashioned now, but therefore very sweet (kind of in the Albert generation in England)

messagetoyourudy · 05/05/2012 21:19

I have a Hector so I obviously think it is a GREAT name.

I also like the Dexter and Rudy which funnily enough (or not as the case may be....) were on my short list. We chose Hector as it was a more classic 'old fashioned' name where as Dexter or Rudy felt more modern.....does that make any sense?

Still would have liked to have called DS2 Rudy though.......

PercyFilth · 05/05/2012 21:57

I wouldn't think of Rudy as being modern, it comes from Rudolph (or Rudolf) which is positively ancient. Alternatively Rudiger, which is the German form of Roger.

Hector is great! It's my 2 years old name and I have never regreted this choice. It's a name with a history, quite rare and posh as well. And yes he is as stuborn as his mother!!

To hector means to bully/torment. And a hector is a bully/tormentor. Unfortunately these words are still used too frequently as to avoid the association in my mind.

Shame is it would be a nice name otherwise.

evamummy · 30/05/2012 12:57

I prefer Dexter of those three.

I quite like Rudyard but Rudy is too 'rude'y.

Hector has an unfortunate meaning (nor any nice nicknames - Heck?)

5madthings · 30/05/2012 13:15

my dp liked Hector, because of a motorbike racer hector baber? or someone i dont remember, i didnt like it tbh.
Dexter is becoming more popular, isnt charlotte church's little boy called dextor and it makes me think of the serial killer prog, sorry!

Rudy is great! i have one, but we spell it Rudi!! Grin its a fab name but always gets mixed responses on mnet.

AllRiseForHerVaj · 30/05/2012 17:19
