A brother or sister for Jonas?

I need a name that works in the UK and also on the continent, if possible that is written the same way everywhere.

For a girl, at the moment I like Rosa and Iris (I prefer the English pronunciation of Iris than the Spanish/Portuguese "Ee-ris") and Emilia (approved for DC1 if he was a girl). But I need more ideas.

For a boy I can only think of very popular names, like Raphael and Leo (too popular) or very poncy stuff like Horatio, which are a bit OTT.

It's almost impossible to find boys names with just one spelling in several languages (we like Eric, but it doesn't go with the family names).

And of course, it has to sound good with Jonas.

Heeelp!!!

Love emilia for girl Smile what about Lucas for boy? Goes well with jonas and usually pronounced same. Some might pronounce lucash in some countries. But I quite like that too Wink

Rosa is perfect for a girl - beautiful, feminine and pronounced the same in most languages.

We have a Quentin which works quite well in German, French and English (we have German family). Otherwise how about Marcus or Stefan? Adam is good too.

Thanks for the suggestions!

BBQ, I like Marina, but I'm still looking for something more "grannysh". And a couple of friends are having a Marina in a few months :)

Lucas ticks all the boxes, but at the moment is soooooo popular back home. You can't go anywhere without meeting one (and for some weird reason, most of them are so spoilt and badly behaved... Confused )

Glad that you like Emilia and Rosa. The think that's annoying me about Emilia is that there are several ways to write it in the UK. She will spend her life saying she's not Amelia, or Emily, etc...

Quentin is nice, but doesn't work in Portuguese...

(Naming DS1 was an ordeal, I feel we have another months of drama ahead of us)

Oh no I love Lucas. I know one and he's lovely Wink

Grannyish names make me think Florence, betsy, Nancy.

Good luck choosing Grin

Psammead, Hector was shortlisted for DS1. We thought it felt a bit too poncy, but I still think it's lovely (despite the meaning of "to hector").

Pasiphae, I like most of the names you suggested. DH has vetoed Iago ages ago, because of the Othello's character. I've been thinking of Ines as well, and like Octavia, but I doubt DH would accept it. Cecilia is beautiful as well (although it means "blind")

I like classical, Roman or Greek names. I just don't think I have the guts to use any of them...
