Opinions on boys names please

We can't decide on names for our little boy, due next week! DH and i have very different opinions on boys names - but have finally reached a shortlist of 4 as follows (I am Irish and DH is English). We both love Tadhg but are living in England and worried that it may be a bit difficult for people to pronounce as its not pronounced phonetically - its tai-G.

Ronan
Ciaran
Tadhg
Finn

Any thoughts? I have thought so hard about names I am totally clueless at this stage!

If I were guessing, I'd have pronounced it "Tadge" (rhyming with Madge)!

I like Ciaran best of your list.

CPtart · 24/04/2012 16:34

Conal or Niall?

Finn-people will presume its short for Finlay
Ronan-"Boyzone"
Tadhg-don't like sorry
Ciaran-like this best.

BlueChampagne · 24/04/2012 16:42

I like Ciaran best from your list too. Other English-friendly ones might be Aidan, Brendan, and, of course, Patrick.

Ciaran, Tadhg and Ronan are all lovely and not overused.

Finn is way overused imo and a little dull too.

FondleWithCare · 24/04/2012 18:49

I really like Ciaran.

HoldTouchEngage · 24/04/2012 22:41

Must admit i am not keen on Tadhg - sorry! but i thought it was ti-gue?

Ronan is fairly nice though, and Ciaran i like! I also lie Ruari - (know a very cute 3 yr old called that!)

How about

Aidan
Angus
Darcy
Quinn
Liam
Malachy

I quite like the name Ciaran. Wouldn't know how to begin to pronounce Tadhg.

PercyFilth · 24/04/2012 23:17

I know a Tadhg. People have no trouble with it once they know how it's pronounced - like Tiger but cut short. I can never remember how to spell it though. Blush

welovesausagedogs · 24/04/2012 23:30

I like Finn best

oikopolis · 24/04/2012 23:33

Ciaran is my favourite. Lovely name.

i've been told how to pronounce Tadhg so many times, but every time i get to it, i find myself unable to all over again!

Finn and Ronan are quite dull imo.

Chunkamatic · 24/04/2012 23:45

Finn is best from your list.

What about Oisin?

anniemcphee · 25/04/2012 00:29

Ciaran is lovely, as is Ronan.
Sorry I'm not keen on Tadhg - as I would pronounce it wrong, probably as Taaj.

justhayley · 25/04/2012 07:58

I love Finn - was thinking about using it or Finlay for my little one but he just doesn't look like one
