Only 6 weeks of but enjoying obsessing about names already! What do you think of my current faves for girls? Do your worst!

If I went for Emmeline it would be after Mrs P so I'd have no problem with that! If DD turns out to be a raging misogynist ashamed of her feminist roots, that's her problem Grin

However, DH is currently favouring Esme for a girl, and it does go well with our other DC names, so that migh tbe the frontrunner... for now!

That's one of the reasons I chose Emmeline. Because I am a rabid feminist but if DD chooses to be a simpering girlie, Emmeline is quite frilly and her girlie friends won't know who Emmeline Pankhurst is. Grin Have you read my namesake Terry Pratchett's books? There is a formidable icon in there called Esmeralda, Esme for short.

Love Violet as I have one (dd1 - 5) and I only very rarely come across others. Is it really becoming that popular now? I love the fact the name is both soft, sweet feminine and spunky/ feisty (dd can be all of them - she's very tall, fun and sociable, not at all shrinking by any description)

Emmeline would be my second choice and I have considered it as a middle name for dd2 as it is also so similar to my name Grinbut we did not want a mn beginning with E.

I tried Emmeline out on DH as an alternative to Emma, which he likes and I don't...couldn't convince him, sadly. I think Emmy is a nice short nn which isn't too frilly or girlie so I really don't think the name is too feminine.

I like Violet & Juliet but neither work with our surname. Sadie reminds me of Sadie Frost, not a positive association in my book but if you like the name, don't let that put you off even though she is a terrible actor
