Hi, we are expecting our third daughter in a matter of weeks. We were very indecisive when finding a name for dd2, so choosing a girl's name for the third time seems even harder! There are lots of names I like, but while I've come up with plenty of suggestions, dh has vetoed a lot of them. So this is our current list, that we can both agree on. (Of course I might change my mind again before the due date!) I would be interested to hear your opinions on these, thanks.

Charlotte
Clara
Sasha
Isabella (so many Isabella's where I live, but I really love the name, so it's hard to rule it out)
Chloe
Tessa
Clarissa (bit of a long shot because I don't think dh will really go with this one)

I like Clara best.

tunaday · 23/04/2012 15:54

Like the first 5 but not the last two. I like Clara - it reminds me of the Clara in the Nutcracker ballet which I used to love. I've always liked Sasha too. Charlotte and Isabella I love but there will be a lot of em about. But I wouldn't let that put you off if you like the names. Chloe is very feminine and pretty.

Geranium3 · 23/04/2012 16:06

you should go for isabella, such a beautiful, classic name, otherwise sasha or what about christabel or genevieve? Good luck, it's lovely to have 3dd's!

headfairy · 23/04/2012 16:07

Of your list I like Charlotte, Tessa, Sasha and Clara, with I think Tessa (or Tess as I prefer it) being the favourite.

lulu3003 · 23/04/2012 16:09

Thanks bluechampagne and tunaday. It does help me to hear some outside opionions from people who are neutral and don't know me, and get a feel for the impression these names give out.

I like Chloe and Isabella best of your list, then Clara and Charlotte.

Thanks to the rest of you who have posted - I didn't mean to leave some of you out, just cross-posted with some of you!

I think Isabella is by far the prettiest and best name on the list. I don't mind Charlotte and Clarissa is nice.

BeattieBow · 23/04/2012 16:46

Isabella is my favourite, but it is so popular! (I have one - who's 9 now, so it was less popular then, but in her last school she was still one of 3 isabel variants in her class).
I also love Elizabeth - have you thought of that?

ripsishere · 23/04/2012 16:47

Isabella or Clara.
What about Ellen or Alexandra? I love those names.

Alligatorpie · 23/04/2012 16:49

I love Charlotte ( my dd) and Clara, Tess and Sasha are on my shortlist for this dd. You have great taste in names.

gaunyerseljeannie · 23/04/2012 16:50

Tessa is just lovely:-)
I am having problems with Isabella (though it is my mothers name and I do love it for wee ones too) because I am having a flaky about Bella Swan being a bad example to girls . I like Tessa because it suggest a sweet natured girl growing into a strong woman IMO

MoonHare · 23/04/2012 18:05

In order I like:
Charlotte LOVE this name but then I'm hugely biased as I am one! But please don't shorten to Lottie or Charlie.
Tessa - like Tess too, pretty but also strong would certainly see her through life
Clara - little bit 'pony club' perhaps, but that might be the vibe you're after
Isabella - prefer Isobel and you're right there are a lot of variations on this around also agree though that it is a lovely name
Sasha - not keen but not sure why....
Chloe - was very very popular 5-10 years ago so there will be many of them around though perhaps not as peers for your DD
Clarissa - too frilly

lulu3003 · 23/04/2012 18:45

Thanks for all your feedback everyone. Is Bella Swan one of the characters in Twilight? I haven't seen the films/books but my sister mentioned something about a Bella...i've obviously not been tainted by the connotation but I guess a lot of other people around dd might be!
Hi beattie - Elizabeth is on our longer list actually, I do like that name. Someone else suggested christabel which I also toyed with a few months ago but it got a definite no from dh!

I like Charlotte or Tess rather than Tessa.

Clara always seems cold to me and Sasha I can't think ok as anything other than a nickname for Alexandra. Chloe was insanely popular when dd2 (10) was born.

Isabella - again very, very popular and I agree Bella Swan is a lousy role model.

Isobel isn't as common.

What about Clare? I am mid thirties and there were lots when I was young but it's not much used now and I the sound is less up itself than Clara Grin

gaunyerseljeannie · 23/04/2012 19:16

Clare is lovely, what a good idea i haven't heard of a Claire for years... waiting to be rediscovered ( waiting for millions of Claresmummies to correct me Smile)

I really like Isabella.

Also Clara.

MrsTerryPratchett · 23/04/2012 20:53

Tess/a is great. Read The Constant Nymph and that will make your mind up either way Grin

lulu3003 · 23/04/2012 23:29

Thanks everyone. Taking all your comments on board, there doesn't seem to be one outright winner...but it's good to hear positive comments for most of them, it reassures me that whichever one we go with, there will be people who like the name, so I think we're on the right track, (no name will get approval from everyone!) Plus I think there's no need to hassle dh to come round to Clarissa - its clearly the least favoured on here, so I think dh has a point and it's one we could lose to cut the shortlist down.
Thanks again for feedback.

Clara or Charlotte are the nicest IMO

I also like Isabella and Chloe, but very popular. Sasha and Tessa are quite nice, but not as nice as the others.

PercyFilth · 24/04/2012 01:09

Clara can be short for Clarissa. My gt grandma was Clarissa but always called Clara.
