Iris or Sadie?

Middle name will be Elizabeth (my mother's middle name)

This is our shortlist of two, we can't decide between them. DH prefers Sadie, I think I prefer Iris. what do you think?

winkle2 · 20/04/2012 21:51

Devora · 20/04/2012 21:57

Sadie Smile

itsraininghens · 20/04/2012 22:14

Iris for me - lovely

welovesausagedogs · 20/04/2012 22:15

Definitely Iris, much nicer and more interesting

MummysLittleSunbeams · 20/04/2012 22:48

Sadie , but hoping it doesn't get too popular. Wink

anychocswilldo · 21/04/2012 09:22

They are both beautiful names, think I prefer Iris Elizabeth but only just. Very hard to choose.

lifeisfuckinggreat · 21/04/2012 09:49

Iris, all the way. Is a beautiful classy and timeless name. Hate to say it but I've known two rottweillers called Sadie.

WithACherryOnTop · 21/04/2012 12:41

Sadie.I don't like Iris at all.

emmyloo2 · 21/04/2012 13:20

Both are lovely but definitely prefer Iris? It sounds more like a proper name and it is just a gorgeous classic name.

PamBeesly · 21/04/2012 13:25

Both equal for me, gorgeous gorgeous names. What flows better with your surname?

SLVC · 21/04/2012 16:52

Iris for me, love it. Sadie to my ear sounds a bit 80s.

MamaGeekChic · 21/04/2012 17:04

Both were on my long short list for DD so I love them both. Iris because the goo goo dolls song is one of my faves, went off Sadie slightly because it reminds me of someone a bit miserable but both fab names!!

HatchedAtTheHutch · 21/04/2012 17:07

Definitely loving Iris

BuntyPenfold · 21/04/2012 17:16

Sadie.
I don't like iris, sorry, too much biology diagram.

Bibulus · 21/04/2012 20:46

Argh, impossible choice!! It's a fairly close call isn't it? The thing is, there are quite a lot of dogs out there called Sadie - including my late grandmother's dog (so it would horrify my mother to call her Sadie - which would be a bit of a bonus Wink)

They both work well with our surname I think. But perhaps Iris does have the edge.... a bit more dignified and grown-up sounding.

Definitely Iris! Really pretty, classic sweet name.

Sadie is a bit "cutesy" IMO and I just never liked it.

Definitely Iris! I love it but DH won't let me call our DD2 that when she arrives Sad

LondonNadiy · 22/04/2012 16:28

Iris. So much nicer. Sadie is a nn, and not a v nice one at that! Sounds like the cool girl's hanger-on in an early 90's american teen show. Iris is beautiful, timelessly classic, and has a sense of gravitas. Its in my top 5, DP hates it. :(

irememberthesilverjubilee · 22/04/2012 17:00

My imaginary 2nd dd is Iris Elizabeth!!!!

kickingKcurlyC · 22/04/2012 17:26

They're both nice. Good choices.
