EDD tomorrow and completely stuck

DC2 is due tomorrow and although we realistically have a few more days the other thread about delaying naming has motivated me!

DD is a Katy, and if this DC is a boy he will be Fergus. But totally stumped with girls names.

We don't want another name ending in ie/y. Names we like so far but don't really love are:

Elizabeth/Eliza
Clara
Lyra
Agatha
DH loves Florence but I'm not so keen
I like Bethan but DH doesn't

Any suggestions or thoughts welcome! Many thanks

A Katy Katy or a Katherine Katy?

manicinsomniac · 18/04/2012 18:20

A bit like Elizabeth/Eliza - Elise, Elisaveta, Elsa, Elsie, Eleanor, Eloisa, Elodie
A bit like Clara - Cara, Cora, Carla, Chloe, Claire, Clarissa, Clea, Cleo, Ciara
A bit like Lyra - Lyla, Lila, Lilia, Layla, Lydia, Leah, Lacey, Lexie, Louisa, Lucia
A bit like Agatha - Agnes, Agata, Angel, Angela, Anne, Annette, Alice, Alicia

Or, along similar, old fashioned lines

Ada, Ava, Avril, April, Astrid, Aileen, Bessie, Bonnie, Beatrice, Constance, Connie, Daisy, Dilys, Diana, Dora, Edith, Esme, Frances, Flora, Florence, Faith, Greta, Grace, Hazel, Hilary, Hope, Ivy, Iris, Imogen, Isla, Julia, Joy, Judy, Kay, Lily, Lillian, Lilith, May, Martha, Maisie, Mary, Mabel, Maeve, Nancy, Nina, Nadine, Olive, Orla, Pearl, Penny, Patricia, Rose, Rosa, Sara, Sarah, Sophia, Sylvia, Teresa, Tessa, Una, Violet, Wendy, Wanda, Yolanda, Yvette

Thanks all!

manicinsominiac I like Cleo and Cora, plus Astrid too.

MamaGeekChic Elena is lovely - is it pronounced El-en-ya or El-en-ah? I would say it like Eleanor but with an ah ending, is this right?

BBQJuly love Rebecca but can't use.....Laura is a great suggestion though!

Keep em coming!

I would pronounce Elena El-ay-na

MamaGeekChic · 18/04/2012 20:05

The only one i've ever met was El-en-ah :)

applepieinthesky · 18/04/2012 23:25

My grandmother's middle name was Elena pronounced El-ay-na

Katy & Eliza are lovely.

The Katy I know has sisters called Lucy and Sophie, which I know doesn't conform with your stated requirements but I think they work well together. The Katies I know have sisters with names like Sarah and Georgina.

Suggestions:
Katy & Alice
Katy & Beth
Katy & Ellen
Katy & Emma
Katy & Helena
Katy & Isadora
Katy & Lara
Katy & Laura
Katy & Lauren
Katy & Leah
Katy & Louisa
Katy & Pearl
Katy & Rachel
Katy & Ruth
Katy & Susanna

I'd pronounce Elena as El-ay-na too. I think Helena is a better choice if you want to pronounce it hel-en-ah as that's more of a commonplace pronunciation (although Hel-ay-na is just as acceptable).

MoonHare · 19/04/2012 17:34

Rosalind, Ingrid, Tabitha, Nadia???

Of your original list I like Eliza best, in fact love it currently no.1 on our shortlist for DC3 if a girl.
