Nancy - Thoughts?

I have a gut feeling we are having a Boy so have said DH can name Baby if a Girl ;-)

At 41 weeks he has switched from Eleanor Kate Morgan to Nancy Kate Morgan - I am cool with it as I think they are both pretty names and it is so nice to have the weight off my shoulders.
It will not make a difference but it is nice to get outsider opinions sometimes.

I personally don't like it, but LOVE the fact that others do!!

MagsAloof · 23/04/2012 14:19

Nancy is nice, better than Eleanor, which is pretty but a bit wet.

Havingaminutespeace · 23/04/2012 18:33

I really like both Nancy and Eleanor, I think they're both lovely, pretty names.

WithACherryOnTop · 23/04/2012 19:25

Eleanor is much nicer, and a stronger name than Nancy.

ratspeaker · 24/04/2012 10:10

One of my DDs has chosen to use Nancy as her nickname for the past few years so obviously she loves it

ratspeaker · 24/04/2012 10:16

Robert Burns' Ae Fond Kiss is written for a Nancy

Pasiphae · 24/04/2012 10:46

Eleanor is such a classic (I love the Nell nickname), it's hard to go wrong with it.
But Nancy has the classicism with more sass. It's very lively and sparkling. Eleanor is more serious I guess.
That's why I like Nancy better. Sounds like more fun.

thegreylady · 26/04/2012 17:19

I love Nancy it makes me think of the Frank Sinatra song 'Nancy with the laughing eyes'

tammy234 · 26/04/2012 21:38

I much prefer Eleanor. Lovely, classic name that works well in most languages.

Nancy sounds very American and unelegant to my ears, sorry.

SodoffBaldrick · 27/04/2012 03:19

Nancy makes me think of Oliver and the awful 'As Long As Heeeee Neeeeeeeds Meeeeee' song...

I tend to think of it as being a rather, um, inelegant name, although Nancy Mitford refutes that...

I love Eleanor / Elinor / Elena.

wasabipeanut · 01/05/2012 16:39

Nancy is top of my girl list for DC3 (8 weeks & counting).

CPtart · 01/05/2012 16:47

Both nice, maybe prefer Eleanor but dislike the ever popular Ellie.

EmpressOfTheSevenVagines · 01/05/2012 16:58

Nancy Blackett, Nancy Drew, Nancy Wilmot - you've got some great role models there!

monkeymoma · 01/05/2012 17:02

love nancy!

ImNancysMum · 01/05/2012 17:03

Changed my username just for this thread - guess what I called my DD...

Still my favourite name. Unusual without being too out there, elegant though not when she runs downstairs like a fairy elephant and not a whole lot of nicknames or shorter versions associated with it, so she will be called the full name

ImNancysMum · 01/05/2012 17:04

Oh and she is 15 so it's not as though I still have a little baby called Nancy

ProcrastinateWildly · 01/05/2012 17:06

I love Nancy, not that keen on Eleanor though, but it's ok.
