What do you think of my name choices??

OK, I know this is a bit weird! I won't be getting a BFP anytime as our fertility treatment has come to an end and we will now look into adoption. If we have a new child they will come with a name (which I hope will be music to our ears - in time). But for a long while I've been making a list of names! Just thought I'd share my top names and see what you think of my choices!

Just curious if anyone likes them! We have a lovely DD already, Having never had a son I can't imagine having a boy and I struggled to find even a few boys names I really liked!

I have a DS and find boy's names very difficult. I like the old fashioned names like Arthur, Henry etc, but I think you might be a little more modern in your taste. What about Owen, Austin, Nicholas, Preston, Cole, Ellis, Nate??? Anything like that take your fancy?

Thanks so much for your lovely comments. Just wanted to share 'my' names having compiled the list over a long time. If we are fortunate enough to adopt then the child will already come with a name.

Yes, emmyloo2 I too like old fashioned names but also some modern ones too. There are also a few names that are actually really old fashioned but sound modern! I heard Rosealba on Cadfael the other day (which is TV programme about a monk, it is set between about 1135 and about 1145). So if that is the kind of name they used in those days then it is not at all modern, but I guess it sounds modern!

Cassia is a plant but is also a version of Kezia/Keziah, which is the name of one of Job's daughters from the Bible. Likewise, Merab and Nehemiah are names from the Bible. As a Christian I do like Bible names, you can see that from my boys' list, where all the boys' names are Bible names.

I find the whole process of naming things very interesting, what makes us feel drawn to certain names etc. I guess having travelled a lot and lived for short periods of time overseas I have picked up some eclectic tastes in names.

I am very excited about the idea of adoption but it will be a long road!

Cassia- Beautiful. I know a few in Wales- They pronounce it "Casha"
Merin- Can't get my head round this one- It's the name of a farm near me so I read it and think cows! :o
Cadence- Not keen
Merab- A bit like random letters out of the scrabble bag, sorry

Camille - Nice but a bit too posh for my tastes

Rosealba- I quite like it but it's just too long.

Kayano thanks for sharing. I know it is possible for adoptive parents to change a name and sometimes it is the right thing, so very possibly that might happen for us. I will remain open to it.

Thanks squoosh, yes I know Nehemiah is an unusual choice, child would probably be condemned to a life of spelling it out! I liked it because we looked at the story of Nehemiah at Easter (at Spring Harvest) and he was someone who re-built the city walls, which was a lovely story. I would have abbreviated it to Ned! Let's be honest my hubby would have vetoed it!

Claudia is another name in the Bible but I like the pronunciation the German way, Cloudia.

Yes, Cassia (pronounced Kass - i - a) is my favourite at the moment.

In many ways it's not a big deal. We choose names we love and then end up yelling them across the playground in a very unglamorous way, and we say then followed by a string of 'would you get your shoes on/brush your hair etc!' yet they kind of help to define us, as well as identify us! And if the first person you met with a certain name was pretty, or popular or lovely or whatever we probably always think of that name favourably!
