Girls name indecision!! (Baby without a name...

Hi there, DH and I desperately need to decide on baby girls name, now that we have seen her she kinda doesn't look like previous favourite names and there were barely any we both liked in the first place!!

Current shortlist (although we seem to be adding not ruling them out...;-)

Emilia (nn Milly)
Maisie
Daisy
Abbie (although I dislike Abigail but would still have to give her this as 'proper' name)

There even seems to be some sort of issue with these names, either one of our mums has made 'that face' about it as a suggestion, (which could grate on me for the next 20 years, knowing that they hate it) or I worry that we will saddle our daughter with a super common name/or one that is too cutesy and awful if she's not a girlie girl. Decisions decisions, never been my strong point! Any help gratefully received....

Emilia, without a doubt!

The reason you'll have got the screwed-up nose is because all the others are a. pretty popular and b. a bit cutesy which a lot of people don't like. Nothing wrong with them, but I definitely think it's a bonus if you can give your child a name which has nickname potential, giving them more choice to choose a way of having their name that suits them when they get older.

Emilia is a lovely, dignified name which also gives you shorter forms like Em, Lia (no-nonsense) and more fluffy ones like Lissa, Millie. So, a good choice.

In case anyone checks back (I always wonder about these things..!) we went with Emilia, are already calling her Milly and all is going well. Thanks again all xx

Congrats. Lovely choice!

Just ignore 'that' face, I wish I had with DS, I'm telling no-one next time. All your names are beautiful, though I particularly love Daisy and Emilia

Oops just seen your update, should read properly, congratulations, and a beautiful name :)

Milly is lovely and when she's older she may prefer Emilia - - Or you might give her her full name when she's shaved the dog or painted the walls with chocolate mousse!! Thats when kids know they've gone too far - when their full name is used !!
