Names to go with those of our DC.

Basically DC4 is due in early May and we're completely stumped for names as we really don't love any (apart from Artemis for a girl but that's another issue). So what I reckon is a good starting point is to brain storm names that go with those of our three DS - Dexter, Harry and Alf. In the past we've never decided on a name as it sounds right in our family, we've just gone for one we love. However as we haven't found the name yet we need all the help we can get! I'm thinking maybe another vintage name, not ending in -ie or starting with D, H or A.

Can you lovely MNers help?

I recently found the list of ideas for DS1, it included Oscar, Hugo, Felix, Jensen(!!!), Jamie, George and Arthur. And for girls (we had a mental block) but the list included Emily, Lottie (Charlotte), Jasmine, Scarlette.

Good luck, stating the obvious..... You might want to get your thinking caps on! Hope it all goes well :)

Bruno

Wilbur

Marvin

I agree - go with names you love! It's not obvious what you would like, as Dexter is quite modern, and Harry/Alf are diminutives of traditional names. So in a similar vein, how about
Kate
Matilda
Sophia
Jemima
Grace

Tom
Max
Arthur
Oscar
Evan

Am I on the right track?

QuintessentialQuaker · 11/04/2012 20:58

That's great, thanks! Probably should point out that Harry is Henry on the bc and Alf is Alfred.

mirror I do really like Evan but knew a hideous one at school!

Bevan
Reeve
Joseph
Seb(astian)
Nat(han)
Ned

Olive
Felicity (ie sound though..)

Or names like Artemis?

Arlo

Alistair

Gabriel

Toby

Acer

Leo

Alexander

for girls - i think Artemis is absolutely lovely. what about Diana, which is the roman version of the same goddess? Or Athene?

QuintessentialQuaker · 11/04/2012 22:08

There isn't a particular reason why we can't use Artemis, we just think it sounds a bit too unusual next to the names of our boys. I do however like Diana.

Joseph is one which I like for a boy but DH not keen. His favourite name at the moment is Anthony which I just find a bit dated!

Diana would be great. Classic, under used. Perfect.

Anthony is fine though. (Just not keen on any of the nn).

I think Max goes well with your other boys names.

baskingseals · 11/04/2012 22:36

Anton is nice.

QuintessentialQuaker · 12/04/2012 12:47

Agree about the lack of nns with Anthony, mirror. I also don't want another 'A' name for a boy (could be less confusing if we used an 'A' name for a girl though).

There are plenty of names that you work with Dexter, Harry and Alf but if I had to pick 5:

Boys:
Patrick
Winston
Victor
Benedict
Edwin

Girls:
Iris
Matilda
Rosemary
Violet
Caroline

Stellan · 12/04/2012 14:59

Names like Artemis that might be a little less 'out there':
Athena
Aurora
Clio
Delia
Doris
Flora
Gaia
Hera
Iris
Phoebe
Selene (which I assume is pronounced like Phoebe is)

Like you, I love Artemis but I think I'm naturally inclined to be quite conservative with my choices so I'd use it as a middle name. You like like Esther and Hester too.

Stellan · 12/04/2012 14:59

Sorry, I meant - you might like!

DesperatelySeekingDistraction · 13/04/2012 08:45

Austin
Asher
Seth
Benedict
Reuben

Nina
Clara
Eliza
Rachel
Ruth
Iris

any good?
