Am I the only one who finds girls names more difficult than boys?!

Our boys name is sorted, in fact there are loads we like! We cannot agree on girls names though...
DP's choices are Annabelle or Annalise (nice but not loving them).
I kind of like a few but nothing is jumping out at me...Francesca, Josephine, Leila, Lucia (pron Loo-see-a) and randomly liking Cora at the mo (too Dowton Abbey?).
Middle name would be Elizabeth. Usual story, we want classic but not boring, unusual but not made up!

I had real difficulty with boys names for The Shortlist, and had way too many choices for girls.

My favourite there is Francesca Elizabeth.Remember people would shorten it to Fran,Franny and Frankie - but I like all of those too!

Susannah?

DessieLou · 09/04/2012 18:38

Good work, cheerfulyank! Will suggest it to Himself.
Skinny I hate Fran/Franny which is putting me off.
We are in Scotland so would consider Gaelic names. Confused

Josephine Elizabeth or Annabelle Elizabeth would be lovely :)

Ruby Elizabeth
Xanthe Elizabeth

I'm the same as you. Have loads of boys names (have a DS with 2 mns and still have loads left!) I/(we love)...but have never really liked many girls names...am due a girl in 6 weeks and my sister and sister-in-law used the only names I had previously liked for girls for their daughters....the ONLY (believe me have been on this site the whole of my pregnancy and have read loads of baby name books) name we like (in fact I love) is my sister's name...we live on different continents and she is a different generation to this child and we will refer to her using a nn. if any confusion within immediate family...am still not happy though as people will no doubt give me stick and it might feel weird...

My suggestions would be:

Charlotte
Victoria
Elizabeth - could this not be her 1st name?
Beatrice

Seeing as you're in Scotland, dare I restart the Jacobina debate?

Jacobina.

There. Said it.

Suggested Suzannah which went down well but kinda warming to Annabelle now....wonder how many times I'll change my mind in the coming months?!

I love both of them! :) I am partial to Susannah, which is why I suggested it :o and I think Suzie, Sukie, Zuzu, and Annie are all adorable for nn.

Annabelle is lovely though, I've always liked it.

I'm in the same boat - had a boy's name picked from about 6 weeks. Still arguing about a girl's name at 37 weeks!!

winkle2 · 12/04/2012 23:07

Hubs and I have boys name picked out from when we first got together 9 years ago! Girls name choice changes on a weekly basis!

babybrain3 · 13/04/2012 07:42

I'm the same as you-we have our boys name sorted but nothing really for a girl.... I quite like Amelia though...

abigboydidit · 13/04/2012 22:53

I could name a whole classroom of girls. Poor DS waited a week without a name and I still worry about our choice..

StetsonsAreCool · 14/04/2012 22:36

We were in exactly the same boat. Boy name decided very early on (we've since dropped our whole boy's shortlist), girl name still being debated until the week she was born.

Her middle name was going to be Francesca or Elizabeth (went with the latter).

First name might have been Lucie or Georgia. She ended up being Darcey after seeing it on someone's shortlist on MN.

We currently like Eloise if we have another DD in the future. I also like Fay, Cora, Leila, Nell, Anya, Fiona, Connie. Loads come to think of it Smile. Not that we're even having another one yet Blush

mrsXsweet · 15/04/2012 19:48

We have an Annabelle. I wasn't too sure about it when my husband first mentioned it but I love it now (she is 2). If we had another girl I quite like Louisa, Miriam, Delphine, Delia, Harriet or Caroline at the moment.

DessieLou · 27/04/2012 13:14

I'm stuck on Annabelle now. The only worry I have is that it rhymes with my name so not sure if it sounds a bit daft. For example Michelle and Annabelle....hmmm. Confused
Some lovely suggestions on here though, thank you. Smile
