What do you think of Rhiannon?

We had thought we were 100% sure DD would be Rosalie but both of us are having second thoughts.

We both love Rhiannon so are considering using that instead.

Which do you prefer?

Love it!

Tooblunt2012 · 09/04/2012 14:43

Lovely.

BigHairyFlowers · 09/04/2012 14:45

Absolutely love it!

JimbosJetSet · 09/04/2012 14:48

Lovely name, but might be confused with Rhianna while the singer is popular... I'm not sure I'd want my DD to have any association with a singer of questionable moralsGrin

MyleeneCrass · 09/04/2012 14:52

Beautiful

McKayz · 09/04/2012 15:01

I'm not bothered too much as I think people wont mix up Rhiannon with Rhianna. I don't know though but I doubt they will.

Lovely. Being Welsh I'm biased, but it IS gorgeous.

TiddlerIsTardy · 09/04/2012 15:04

Really like it - I know 2 & they're both lovely.

McKayz · 09/04/2012 15:10

Janoschi, DH is Welsh. We always planned on her having a Welsh middle name but looks like we might change it round now.

Absolutely Rosalie! It's so pretty and I think more elegant than Rhiannon. Rhianna is really Robyn though so she might have changed her name back by the time your DD is older [bugrin]

BeaditAli · 09/04/2012 15:15

Do you have preference between possible nick names? Rosa/Rosie? Or Rhia/Ria?

McKayz · 09/04/2012 15:16

Not keen on using nicknames so have none planned.

Beautiful name, much nicer than Rosalie imo!

MyDogShitsShoes · 09/04/2012 15:25

Bloody love it, it's my dsis's middle name!

Pretty rare too, even here in Wales. Plenty of Rhian's but hardly ever hear any Rhiannon's.

(it does get my pedantic welsh heckles up when people pronounce it riannon though!)

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 09/04/2012 15:26

I mixed it up with Rhianna and immediately thought chavvy name.

MyDogShitsShoes · 09/04/2012 15:31

I meant when Welsh people pronounce it wrongly, am not pedantic in any other way at all honestly!

BeaditAli · 09/04/2012 15:31

My parents are the only people to call me by my full name, they said they'd never shorten it but everyone else uses my nickname. Though it is more easily shortened than your choices. Both would be lovely [bugrin]

TidyDancer · 09/04/2012 15:35

Rosalie is nicer I thinkl Rhiannon is sweet, but I think you're probably going to get a lot that mistake it for Rihanna. If you're okay with that, then go for it. It's a nice name.

You need to consider the nicknames, because people will use them.

Bearhugs43 · 09/04/2012 15:36

My dn in the making who will be known as Nonnie Smile

AwkwardMaryHadAnEasterLamb · 09/04/2012 15:37

It's a beautful name.

Originalplurker · 09/04/2012 15:37

To near to slutty singer sorry.

AwkwardMaryHadAnEasterLamb · 09/04/2012 15:37

I am welsh and most Rhiannons I have known become Rhia or Rhian.

Janoschi · 09/04/2012 15:45

Rhianna is basically a flash in the pan though. By the time your DD is in school, she'll be a has-been and there'll be some irritating, dubiously dressed pop wannabe called Ruby or Olivia-Mae.... you can't predict this stuff so ignore it.

Rhiannon was a good strong Welsh kickass woman - love it. It's an ANCIENT name and I really don't think of the 'slutty singer' at all. Even so, it's hardly in the same realm as Adolf, is it?

The one I knew was shortened to Rhi.

ReeBee · 09/04/2012 15:48

It's my name. I love it, have always loved it but am now usually called an abbreviated form - which my poor DM isn't happy about.

I am not (often) confused with Rihanna... Grin

I do have to spell it / say it at least twice when meeting new people though. I don't mind as it makes it a bit special iyswim.

Go for it!

Stellan · 09/04/2012 16:35

First thought was Fleetwood Mac, not Rihanna.
