There lovely!! Smile so nice to see some 'normal' names. Fabulous choice op Smile

granule · 07/04/2012 21:48

Very popular, but probably because they're such lovely names. Nowt wrong with that as long as you know he/she won't be the only one with their name in their peer group.

welovesausagedogs · 07/04/2012 21:49

Both the names you have chosen are really lovely.

Stellan · 07/04/2012 21:59

4 of the most popular names I can think of but they are all very sensible & very nice. I wouldn't use them if you have a common surname but otherwise, why not if you like them.

gafhyb · 07/04/2012 22:15

Nice, but very very popular.

karinajack · 07/04/2012 22:30

Thanku everyone .. we did look through the top 10 names so thought they might be popular lol we don't know any though x our son is jack and he's fine with having another jack in his class :) just learnt his surname aswell and his classmates call him his full name x

Nice, neither are going to set the world alight but nice normal names.

Kaekae · 08/04/2012 23:21

Yawn, pretty overdone names IMO. Sorry.

HappyCamel · 08/04/2012 23:29

Oliver Max is nice if popular. Lily Eve doesn't really go well together for me. I'd change the second name to one with a hard consonant, for example, Lily Kate.

CaoNiMa · 09/04/2012 07:20

Dull dull dull! Do your child the favour of knowing that you put a bit of thought into his or her name!

exoticfruits · 09/04/2012 07:32

It makes me laugh when people say they are are overdone-if you like them then use them.
Dull names are lovely-I'm very glad that my parents didn't try being original!
Having said that I don't think that Lily Eve goes-you need the second one longer and not starting with a vowel.

They're fine. Lily Eve doesn't run together well, though...

Thanks for ur opinions though I must admit I won't take any to heart and change the names that we have spent weeks debating over! Yes we have put much thought into them and coupled with our second name I think it sounds great. We'll see what family members think in 23 week ! Lol seems soo far away I can't wait xxx

Yes - where does one draw the line between too popular and therefore dull, and rare enough to be acceptable as unique to your oh so unique child? Top 10 / 100 / 1000? arbitrary lines drawn where by whom?? Names are popular for a reason and it isn't cos they are horrid and only chosen by people with no imagination - even if some of the popular names are not ones you like! FFS

Such a minor reason not to have a name. OK something to bear in mind but not a reason to reject a name you really love! Otherwise we wouldn't have so many James, Claire etc etc

FondleWithCare · 09/04/2012 11:22

Lovely names and being fairly popular doesn't equate to putting no thought into the names IMO. I far prefer these names to many of the "unique" names I've heard.

wishiwasonholiday · 09/04/2012 11:25

My ds is Oliver but it was close with Max if we ever have another boy I think we'll call him that, mine is Oliver alfie as ds 1 wanted to call him Alfie, nice names.

karinajack · 09/04/2012 11:40

I loved Alfie and Oscar but dh disagreed we have been at this for many weeks lol he adores Charlotte ... Never gonna happen lol

I love both. gorgeous. x

nomoreminibreaks · 09/04/2012 12:16

Just because names are popular doesn't mean that no thought has gone into them. Maybe the thought was 'I don't want DC to have to explain/spell/blush every time they introduce themselves'?

They are lovely names, though I see the point about Lily and Eve kind of running into each other.

AmziePie · 10/04/2012 00:02

Love both options, but can see what other MN mean about Lily Eve not quite going together. I would change Eve to Grace or Alice.

SodoffBaldrick · 10/04/2012 01:59

There is acres and acres of middle ground between very popular, i.e. top 10 names - and unusual, yoon'eeq names... Hmm It's not an either/or situation.
