Martha
Polly
Beatrice( tricky, because old friend has same name for her DD, but we live miles away and rarely see them, but she can be a bit funny!)
..and Matilda (added last night!)
loved Agatha, but feel its quite a name to 'carry' :)

Love to hear all your thoughts

I love Martha!
I also like Beatrix, I know it's not on your list, but thought I'd throw it out there as it's similar Grin

fondantfancier · 03/04/2012 13:38

Martha is nice, but I think Agatha is the best of the lot.
To me Polly is a bit nicknamey and Beatrice, whilst very pretty, is quite popular if that bothers you.

PandaNot · 03/04/2012 13:39

Martha or Matilda

mummybare · 03/04/2012 13:45

I'm not sold on Polly or Agatha, but the others are lovely. I love Matilda and Beatrice, and Beatrix, come to that. The only thing that puts me off Martha is the lack of nn potential, but for some that's a plus and it's a very pretty name.

Surf25 · 03/04/2012 13:47

Love Martha and Matilda

Prunella79 · 03/04/2012 13:50

martha

DoubleGlazing · 03/04/2012 14:09

I only like Beatrice out of those. Don't worry about the old friend, if she "can be a bit funny" that's her problem and you're entitled to use any name you like :)

IAmYourSingingTelegram · 03/04/2012 14:17

Matilda is lovely.
Martha is ok.
I don't like Polly.
No to Beatrice.
Agatha is ugly.

tigrou · 03/04/2012 14:23

Martha all the way. Great name. Polly is pretty good too, a bit less substantial maybe, but more quirky.
Beatrice is nice, but just doesn't grab me, Matilda is a mystery to me, I just don't get it's appeal, and Agatha sounds much too mothball-y to me.

pictish · 03/04/2012 14:24

I like Polly best.

squoosh · 03/04/2012 14:25

Martha is lovely.

Beatrice is not.

Polly is too cutesy.

Matilda is ok.

Agatha could be amazing.......... or terrible, I'm not sure!

My dd is Mathilda Beatrice. Both lovely names.

But Agatha I LOVE.

doctordwt · 03/04/2012 14:31

Polydora Beatrice, Polly for short, with the option of going for Dora.

squoosh · 03/04/2012 14:37

Is Polydora a real name? Sounds like a sealant.

TodaysNotAGoodDay · 03/04/2012 14:40

Martha is best I think.
Polly sounds like a parrot and Beatrice wore a truly rediculous hat to Wills and Kate's wedding.

seeker · 03/04/2012 14:41

Martha.

I think, not sure, but I think that Polly used to be for some reason a nickname for Mary.

quickhide · 03/04/2012 14:46

Polly is fab! (Slightly biased owner of a 4yo Polly Grin )

I also like Martha and Beatrice but they are both quite popular, I know several of each under 5. Never met another Polly!

Also on my list for DD were Tess, Phoebe and Imogen

I have a 3 year old Polly and have never regretted calling her this! She is a real character and it suits her perfectly. Also love Martha and Beatrice - considering both for my 3rd but not sure if they are too popular. Mind you I am a great believer that you should just go with what you like!

SoFarWeAreEqual · 04/04/2012 08:37

Martha is gorgeous

Beatrice is lovely

Don't really like Polly

Matilda is also gorgeous

Agatha is fab

I don't think you can go wrong with any apart from Polly, but if I were to choose one above the others then I think it would be Agatha. Then Martha.

Great names!

elizbake · 04/04/2012 11:05

thanks so much everyone.. still stuck though:) like them all for various reasons.. agree with sqoosh, Agatha could be terrible or amazing :) I already have a Henry and Oscar, so would have to go with those names too... if its boy, it will be Ted... girls are a bit tricky............

Love Matilda - really pretty name. Polly's okay. Not so keen on Agatha.

How about Matilda Beatrice?

Isla77 · 04/04/2012 21:18

I have a Polly - beautiful name and not too popular. She has never been called Polly Parrot by anyone.

smother · 06/04/2012 17:09

All lovely names! Esp Martha and Polly - gorgeous.

Beatrice is ok, love nn Bea.
Matilda is ok, love nn Tilda (but not Tilly)
Agatha is hot/cold.. like Aggie as a nn, prefer fullname Agnes.
