Is it a little bit twee? Does it remind you of the little Sylvanian beaver? Or is it a perfectly 'acceptable' girl's name?

My cat's short name is Misty

DoNotDisturb · 29/03/2012 08:27

I like it but then I quite like dog names for babies Grin

MagsAloof · 29/03/2012 11:25

Cat's name. Awful.

I lived in the US for a few years when I was a child and there were a lot of girls around my age called Misty.
My favourite was a girl called Misty Rainwater who lived down the road. She still gets mentioned frequently at my parents' house, 20 years later!

The only Misty I know has the full name Mercedes (everyone associates it with the car, but the car was named after the guy's daughter!). I think it is also a nickname for Melissa.

If she's really keen on Misty, maybe she could pick a name it is a nickname for?

somewherewest · 29/03/2012 15:42

Yep. I had a budgie called Misty

EmmaCate · 29/03/2012 15:43

LineRunner shares my concerns.... Freak woman stalker film would spring to mind.

oikopolis · 29/03/2012 16:40

yep it's a nn for Melissa, and other M names I suppose.
I think it's quite sweet as a nickname. i wouldn't use it as a birth cert name personally, just because it does sound quite twee on the wrong sort of person.

ThatllDoPig · 29/03/2012 16:42

I wouldn't do it for a human either. She might get called Foggy.
Pretty for a creature though IMO

I'm a teacher, and some of my students call me Miss T, and it sounds entirely like a pony to my ears.

SE13Mummy · 31/03/2012 23:48

I've taught a Misty.... it's not a name I'd choose for my own children but it suited the child in question perfectly!

BuntyPenfold · 02/04/2012 00:02

I know a youneek one - Mistee.
I'm afraid she is a bit of a laughing stock.
