hiya I'm 35 + 2 having a boy and have not settled on a name yet - infect we don't even have a shortlist.
My DP is really starting to wind me up, I go through name books, websites, ask u guys, & he doesn't like anything. Every option iv given him he just says no I work with a Joshua for example & he's a twat, or no I had a James in my class at school who was mad, he finds it easy to tell me what he doesn't like but hasn't actually given any suggestions of his own. He thinks we will just no what babies name is when he arrives. I think we should have a few options ready and then from our short list we will probably no when we see him.

Anyone else's DH/DP irritating them when it comes to names?

My favs so far are

Mason James
Finlay James
Finlay Alexander
Joshua Noah

Afraid I am not a fan of Mason but like Finlay and Joshua. Personally prefer Joshua but prefer alexander as a middle name to Noah

I like Joshua Alexander Smile not sure if it's a little to long though?

If you have a short surname it's nice having longer given names. Mason James is great though!

Men just don't care. Apart from looking up every now and then and saying NO when I suggested something outlandish, DH wasn't very interested either.

DoubleGlazing · 27/03/2012 15:09

Joshua Alexander is very nice, not too long. Alexander Joshua would work too.

My dh is the same. Keeps saying no, but has very little in the way of suggestions. Drives me crazy, I told him I will name the baby by myself ( he will be overseas for the birth) if he doesn't give me some proper names.

I really dislike the name Finlay, it looks and sounds wrong.

Maybe your partner is right though, maybe give him a shortlist then agree on a name when he's here?

Positiveplus · 27/03/2012 17:20

I like Mason - though thats our dogs name!
Finlay is ok - like Finn.
Not keen on Joshua / Josh.

My DH has come up with a couple of names but isnt very forthcoming. He generally asks what I like then goes along with that - think he just wants the easy life!

feel your pain OP!
I thought we'd agreed in my choice of boys name, Milo, but then when we found out we're having a boy DP started having an opinion and says he doesn't like it :(
The only name he's suggested is Art, but i have to sit through countless joke suggestions before we get to one he actually likes - so irritating!
Like Finlay from your shortlist.
