oh, I like all your names!

For girls, I particularly like Alice (doesn't work with our surname but I have always liked it) and Penelope (so pretty yet works if she's a kick ass career woman!).

Boys, Henry and Luke are both very good, strong names, but it would depend on your surname.

Those are two really gorgeous lists!

IwanttobelikeKirstieAllsopp · 26/03/2012 21:44

Thank you....forgot Alexander as well!

YummyMummybee · 26/03/2012 22:13

Love Jemima, Phillipa-do you intend shortening to Pippa? Also love Henry & George.Great shortlist!

IwanttobelikeKirstieAllsopp · 26/03/2012 22:18

Yes would be Pippa but I have a thing about trying to put full names on birth certificates....

You have great taste - they're all lovely!

(That's not going to help you choose, is it?)

scarlettsmummy2 · 26/03/2012 22:30

I like alice and Henry best.

DoubleGlazing · 26/03/2012 22:40

Jemima - too posh for me
Alice - a bit staid
Penelope - lovely, very pretty and like Penny too
Philippa - again, lovely and Pippa is nice nickname

Henry - like
Luke - like
George - like
Alistair - OK

IwanttobelikeKirstieAllsopp · 27/03/2012 07:01

I am worried Jemima is a bit pretentious so thank you....this is so tricky!

Alice and Luke.

Don't like Henry or Alistair or Jemima - all three sound a bit '1980s Sloane.'

FondleWithCare · 27/03/2012 12:20

Jemima - nice but I don't love it
Alice - very pretty and timeless, it will suit her from birth up to old age
Penelope - dislike this for no real reason
Phillippa - my favourite

Henry - it's ok but nothing special, I prefer Harry
Luke - my favourite
George - not too bad but it's my sister's dogs name which puts me off
Alistair - dislike it, Mr Darling springs to mind

LucyManga · 27/03/2012 12:21

I like Henry and Penelope best.

strawberrypenguin · 27/03/2012 15:35

I think they are all lovely but if I had to narrow it down a bit would go for either Jemima or Phillippa for girls Henry or Luke for boys.
For what it's worth I don't actually think you need to narrow your lists down any more right now, we has 3 possible names for DS and picked the one that suited him best when he was born. It worked well for us and we definitely made the right choice.

Adayforthinking · 27/03/2012 15:42

I like the majority of your names... apart from George which I detest because it's the name of my disgustingly stinky ex who never washed and used to wipe his bogies on the wall behind his bed, yes really! it's really old-fashioned and can't be shortened to anything remotely nice. (Apologies to anyone who has a 'George').

Alistair is nice but is another name of an ex and was shortened to Ali, so depends if you like the shortened version... Smile

IwanttobelikeKirstieAllsopp · 27/03/2012 19:00

Thank you for your help and advice....so tricky and not even considered middle names yet!

From your girls list Alice is my favourite - a real timeless classic. I also like Penelope. From your boys list I love Luke but also like Henry and George. Some lovely choices Smile

octaviarose · 27/03/2012 20:03

Ohh a lovely list of names. A very close friend of my family who turned 90 this year is called Philippa and I really would like to use the name but everyone I tell immediately says - oh after Pippa Middleton it is soooo annoying and beginning to put me off but have until August to decide!

Love George and Penelope as well.

greencat23 · 27/03/2012 20:54

Alice and henry

survivingspring · 27/03/2012 20:58

I like Alice or Alistair

janie2 · 28/03/2012 14:54

Alice (biased) and George ( my all time fave boys name but DH didn't like it!)

All names are lovely though Smile

javotte · 28/03/2012 15:47

Gosh, I thought you were having an intersex (is it what they're called now?) baby! Blush
My favourite names from your liste are Alice for a girl and George or Luke for a boy.

welovesausagedogs · 28/03/2012 16:11

From your list i like Jemima for a girl and Henry for a boy

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 28/03/2012 19:42

See, I think Ali is lovely but I hate Alistair.

Showmethemhappyfeet · 28/03/2012 19:50

I like Penelope of your girls names aday your ex George sounds EXACTLY like a George I know. Although I do know a stunning Wentworth Miller look alike called George too...
