Hello
Rosie is 10 days old.She needs a first middle name. Her complete name is Rosie xxx Garnett Reed. Garnett being my maiden name, but her 3rd name not part of her surname. We are toying with abigail, I'm not sure. I also like Alice, emily, although emily is a bit like Rosie with the ie ending . Dh has vetoed in any event. Any other suggestions? Please!

Snap makes a good point - garnet is a gemstone so could appear a modern take on Ruby that has become very popular in recent years

I'm liking a middle name like Elizabeth Charlotte ie 2 or 3 syllables Nd not one starting with I (and prob A)

I know a Rosie Jo which is very cute :)

I just think if it's that hard to think of something, why bother, unless it's something meaningful no-one will ever use it. I regret a bit giving dd1 a meaningless middle name - although it's a nice name and was to give her a choice from her unusual and difficult to spell first name. But I could have done that with any number of nice family names too. Her first name is meaningful though, so I'm not over-bothered.

Will chuck in a name I think is beautiful and elegant and due a revival.... Jane.

Rosie Tabitha is lovely :)

I like Rosie Garnett Reed too. She sounds like an author!

deviladvocate · 27/03/2012 00:29

Just had a thought, if you want her to have a grown up name and a nickname, you could use Rosina (dh's granny's name) as her formal name and Rosie for short. Rosina Garnett Reed sounds rather grand!

I'm going with Rosie Garnett Reed, too, and also picked up on the Rose (red) & Garnet (red) theme.

If anything, I thought of suggesting Rosie Ruby Garnett Reed ... which might be laying it on a bit thick, but will be dead handy if she wants to become an actress or a pop star :)

Don't ask me why, but I think Rosie Velvet Garnett Reed sounds incredibly lush and special.
And rather pretentious.

Brilliant!! Love the rouge theme going on there. She'll say "mummy is it because red is your favourite colour?" yes it is darling! I love Scarlett too but dh won't go for it. Basically we are still torn between tabitha and Abigail. Decisions decisions. We like them both!
