Heard a couple of these recently -

Harry / Henry
John / Jack
Isabella / Belle (seriously)

Really??!!!

Do people not realise one is a nickname for the other?!!!

My old boss has a daughter called Robyn. He recently had a little boy, who they have named Robert.

Hmm
ChickensHaveNoLips · 14/03/2012 14:59

I know a Leroy and Elroy (twins).

I cocked up my own DC's names, though, so cannot snigger.

BornToFolk · 14/03/2012 15:00

I know a Jessica and Elizabeth. Both very nice names, they'll just always be the Sweet Valley Twins to me!

spiderlight · 14/03/2012 15:02

I know a Ben and Olly, which always makes me think of the cartoon, and also a pair of siblings (not twins) called Leo and Lea.

HardCheese · 14/03/2012 15:08

I do think that calling siblings versions of the same name (Harry and Henry, Seamus and James) is weird, but to be honest, I find something that comes up here a lot - people specifically wanting a new sibling name that 'goes with' the name of their older child or children - even odder!

CheerfulYank · 14/03/2012 16:08

I have a Sam and if I have a daughter she'll be Eleanora.

We'll try to keep her as Ellie right from the get go. :)

LoveBox · 14/03/2012 16:15

I don't 'get' the Sam and Ella thing? What's wrong with that?

MadameChinLegs · 14/03/2012 16:16

LoveBox - Salmonella

LoveBox · 14/03/2012 16:18

Ha. Oh Thanks - must have said it to myself 10 times musingly "sam and ella. ella and sam" and didn't get it! Must have been pausing too much!

StellaAndFries · 14/03/2012 16:19

I know of a Sam and Ella too Grin

My fil is a twin called Jack and his twin sister is called Jill Hmm

Dp is a Lee and his brother is called Perry, we joke that their mum liked Worcestershire sauce.

CPtart · 14/03/2012 16:29

Izzy and Ellie (yawn)

ripsishere · 14/03/2012 16:41

Leeanne, Deeanne and Marryanne.

CappyHunt · 14/03/2012 16:44

I had friends when I was younger (twins) called May and Amy. Identical twins. Bloody nightmare at times trying to guess who was who.

CappyHunt · 14/03/2012 16:45

rips - are you serious?

MadameChinLegs · 14/03/2012 16:49

I was informed after naming my DD that her name is my NN in reverse. I genuinely didn't realise. Have now resolved to never use my NN again.

LieInsAreRarerThanTigers · 14/03/2012 16:59

Ooh I had forgotten about another set of twins: Dawn and Eve...Knight! (Sorry girls, I love your names and think your parents must have had a great sense of humour!)

vitaminC · 14/03/2012 17:16

I know sisters called Sarah and Sally! And brothers called Sean and Ian Confused

fishyfairy · 14/03/2012 17:23

I know brothers called Gary and Gareth. I often wonder what their mother was thinking when she named the younger one.

ButterPecanMuffin · 14/03/2012 17:33

There are sisters in our local primary school called Deanna and Brianna, they have a younger sister not in school yet, she's called Rhianna, and an older sister who is now in secondary school called Joanna. No prizes for guessing what the mom is called. There is also a son, he's called Evan.

oikopolis · 14/03/2012 17:33

i know two brothers with exactly the same name. exactly the same. first, middle, last.

they are from Kenya and i understand that this was sometimes done as a superstitious thing -- to confuse the spirits, etc. and also to ensure that if one of them died, the family names would still be carried on etc.

God it must be a bloody nightmare though. Imagine having the exact same name as your sibling. apparently they aren't nicknamed either, they use their birth cert names.

AsCorruptAsWhisky · 14/03/2012 17:39

I almost called dd3 Daisy but didn't because it sounds too similar to dd1's name, Sadie. I only realised because we met Joseph nn Joe and sister Beau, and I was commenting how silly this was. Somebody pointed out that I was about to do something similar. So perhaps some of these parents don't realise.

AsCorruptAsWhisky · 14/03/2012 17:40

I do know twins Charlotte and Scarlett, Zoe and Chloe, and Harriet and Harry. You can't miss those.

phi40 · 14/03/2012 17:48

My teacher at school had twin boys called Nimrod and Zeus

ButterPecanMuffin · 14/03/2012 17:52

DH has just said he went to school with a boy called Charles, who had sisters called Charlotte and Caroline, both of which are feminine forms of Charles.

tethersend · 14/03/2012 17:55

I have an Angie and am pg with DD2; had we been having a DS, my top boy's name was Denny.

Until it was pointed out that I would have had an Angie and Den.
