I like polly! I thought we were going to name our LO Polly if we had a girl!

welovesausagedogs · 06/03/2012 22:50

Like Agatha from your list, and Aggie is a really cute nickname for a little girl. Polly is alright, but a bit boring.

itsallacademicanyway · 06/03/2012 22:53

I love Agatha. Dh loved Martha for our DD, but I veto'd it - just a bit old and dull for me. Polly I like. What about Estelle?
Do you have a middle name in mind?

HandMadeTail · 06/03/2012 22:58

Agatha is lovely, as is Martha. Polly is dull, dull, dull.

If you like old fashioned names, what about Maud? (You know, come into the garden.....)

elizbake · 06/03/2012 23:05

Glad to hear all the positives for Agatha! Middle name will be Mary...just feel that when the time comes I may just play safe and go for Polly, but I can't seem to get Agatha out of my head!!

Agatha not exactly a strange name, nice and traditional without being boring like Polly.

LST · 06/03/2012 23:10

I hate how people describe names as boring! How can a name be boring? Do other unboring names get up and dance around the page you write them on?Polly isn't a boring name!

LST · 06/03/2012 23:11

I like Constance too as I liked the nick name Connie.

TheCrunchUnderfoot · 06/03/2012 23:14

Go for Polydora, and Polly for short.

FilterCoffee · 06/03/2012 23:27

None of those are really to my taste, sorry.

WineOhWhy · 06/03/2012 23:31

I have a friend called Polly (short for Olivia). One of the least boring people I know so struggle to see Polly as a boring name.

SoFarWeAreEqual · 07/03/2012 08:33

I love Martha out of your list. Not keen on Agatha, sorry, and Polly reminds me of Polly Put The Kettle On.

What about Marta? That is gorgeous

jaffacakehips · 07/03/2012 08:49

I love Agatha nn Aggie is just super cute.

Not keen on Polly at all. Sorry

Peekabooooo · 07/03/2012 08:51

I agree with jaffacakehips

smother · 07/03/2012 13:13

Martha is my fav - lovely.

Polly is ok.

Not keen on Agatha but like Aggie as a nn - what about Agnes? I know a very cool little Agnes who gets called Aggie... Or Maggie (Margaret)?

ISpyPlumPie · 07/03/2012 13:20

I thought Polly was traditionally short for Mary so not sure about it with Mary as a mn. Might be wrong though.

Minty82 · 07/03/2012 13:20

I love Martha (it's very high on our list, thought doesn't work with pre-determined middle name). Polly's pretty...not at all keen on Agatha I'm afraid, but it's one that will always split people...

Minty82 · 07/03/2012 13:20

'though it', not 'thought'!

Elizadoesdolittle · 07/03/2012 15:16

I know a Polly and she is anything but boring! A name is what the person makes it.

I love it...would be on my list if I could.

Polly Mary is a fab name.

stinkingbishop · 07/03/2012 15:20

LOVE Polly and very likely about to call one of the twins exactly that. Never met a nasty/boring Polly - all lovely people, so maybe that colours it!

LST · 07/03/2012 15:25

Pollyanna! Smile

littlepie · 07/03/2012 20:26

I like them all. I think I like Agatha best.

elizbake · 08/03/2012 17:55

Thanks for all your responses.Think we have ruled out Martha, so it's between Agatha and Polly..got another 15 weeks or so to mull it over!
