I like - but then again I have a Marilla, so maybe I'm a little biased!!

Its pretty - I thought it was mar-e-ella to rhyme with barry-ella (but much nicer obv)

FilterCoffee · 06/03/2012 14:08

Quite nice

olibollen · 06/03/2012 14:09

Marry-ella not mar-e-ella Blush

squoosh · 06/03/2012 14:11

Pepa you have an actual Marilla? I've never met one in real life, I'm presuming you're a big Anne fan? Marilla is the best!

And back to Mariella. I've only ever heard of Mariella Frostrup, not a bad association really, although sometimes her advice column in the Observer irritates me.

I'm rambling.

I like Mariella but much prefer Mariel.

petitema · 06/03/2012 14:12

Not sure of spelling, just hear someone calling their DD by this name.

Ooh, Pepa, as in Anne of Green Gables? Hooray!

hellokitty123 · 06/03/2012 16:42

Beautiful, underused name.

mammaaintraisinnofool · 06/03/2012 19:11

nice. does make me think of mariella frostrupp - but she's pretty cool...

LittlePandaBear · 06/03/2012 19:41

I think it's pretty.

Barryella, on the other hand, not so Smile

useyourloaf · 06/03/2012 20:02

I like it

and Marianna is pretty too.

Pepa · 08/03/2012 02:58

Yes I have a Marilla as in Anne of Green Gables!! Although dd also answers to Milla, Milla-My-Rilla and Mila-mops :)

I did consider Mariella as I think its a very elegant name but decided I preferred the 3 syllabled Marilla - plus I loved the AoGG connection.

Ineedadollar · 08/03/2012 03:17

It reminds me of the Kate Nash song

CaoNiMa · 08/03/2012 06:02

Petitema, we do not "babydance" on Mumsnet.

MaybeItsBecause · 08/03/2012 10:33

Pretty, but vastly prefer Marianne or Marianna

Stellan · 08/03/2012 10:42

Reminds me of Mariella Frostrup but don't think that's a bad thing.

DefiniteMaybe · 08/03/2012 10:46

love it. Why had I not heard of it 6 months ago when naming dd Mariella is lovely x

winkle2 · 09/03/2012 11:28
