Help needed naming a sister for Cordelia

HELP: Sibling name for Cordelia
Please help we are running out of time to name our second daughter.

Cordelia will be 14 months when her sister is born. We love her name, it suits her perfectly, my husband and I both chose it, and the response we have had to it has been lovely. She has no middle name and so her initials are CK.

We have gone through thousands of baby names. Many we have liked we have turned down because of family connections or not working with Cordelia.

There are a few still we like but not 100% on - please help by giving your opinions and suggestions:
Beatrix or Beatrice
Harriet or Harrietta
Felicity (have concerns about initial FK)
Matilda (rather popular in Australia)
Clementine
Jemima

Thanks for your help!

Nowt wrong with matchy matchy. Looks great on xmas cards Grin
Seriously different folks different strokes but i have two sets of friends who have matchy matchy names.
It sounds nice and they are linked esp nice if smaller age gap like in this case.
I also like siblings starting with the same letter but alliterative names is a bit of a tradition in my family.

Cordelia and Cressida
Cordelia and Cecilia
Cordelia and Ophelia

Love Ophelia.
Do like Rosalind Smile
Harriette nicer than Harriet.

I like Harriet and Beatrice best from your list. I also like Felicity but initials not great.

Suggesting
Louisa
Eloise
Josephine
Susanna/h
Margot
Delphine

We went with Harriet and it works well suiting her. Although we have already had some people spelling it wrong!

If your surname begins with K, I might avoid Beatrix, it's a bit difficult to end the first name with x and then move onto the K surname (unless it is a silent K like Knight). Perhaps a name ending with "a" would flow well with the strong K surname. I rather like Jemima - it's not one I hear very often and is not often brought up here so is unlikely to be very common (unless it is in Australia).

Clementine is lovely.

I like your names. Felicity is my fave from your list.

Anya
Gwendoline
Penelope
Loretta
Ida
Sylvia
Esther
Lydia
Francesca or Francisca
Otillie
Aphra
Ursula
Georiana
Arabella
Livia
Aurelia
Aurora
Thea
Anastasia
Reba

I think Ophelia is a bit much with Cordelia, though, sorry!

Clara, Camille, Celeste too similar?

MacaroniPie · 25/05/2012 09:15

Duh!

Harriet is lovely. Congrats!

Lovely shortlist.

Beatrix or Beatrice - prefer Beatrice and like this a lot
Harriet or Harrietta - Love Harriet, do not like Harrietta, why make it fussy?
Felicity - Hmmm, see your point about the initials, how about Verity?
Matilda - Lovely name but not as 'sophisticated' as Cordelia, or your other name ideas
Clementine - really don't like this, amazed it's so popular
Jemima - this is growing on me but again not a sophisticated name
Meredith - love this, goes really well with Cordelia
Alexandra - love this but think it's a more 'no nonsense' name than Cordelia, especially if shortened to Alex

Think my favourites from your list are Harriet and Meredith.

Someone else has already suggested two other good ones; Eleanor and Miranda. How about Rosalind, Ursula, Jocelyn, Charlotte?

MoonHare · 25/05/2012 21:03

Duh! Missed that!
