Thinking of different generational names, I was trying to remember some from Enid Blyton books

Came up with:
Malory Towers - Darrell, Sally, Gwendoline Mary (Lacey), Don't care Bobby (who I assume was a Roberta)

St Claires - Pat and Isabel, Claudine

Famous Five - George (ina), Anne, Julian, Dick

I also remember a Clarissa and Carlotta ( who I think was from the circus) but of course there are loads more.

Any suggestions ... and are they due a revival?

Love the name Mallory as well - so fresh and un-dated sounding.

The Family at Red Roofs - Molly, Peter, Michael, Shirley, Jenny, Jack, Prudence

The House at the Corner - John, Lucy, Pamela, Elizabeth/Lizzie, Tony, Delia, David, Greta, Michael, Grace (v old lady name in this book!)

I'd forgotton about the adventure series enitrely - I loved those books. And agree with Dinah Rhubarbgarden, great name.

Not sure we're ready for a new generation of Fanny's, Dick's, Susan's, Pam's and Pat's

But some of the others have stood up pretty well

Who was the boy on the farm which the Famous Five visited - Toby?

Also one from 'Smuggler's Top'. Seem to recall they had a lot of schoolfriends who lived in particularly mystery-stricken locations Grin

They were always visiting farms Grin. They are clearly very mysterious places.

Toby lived on a farm at Billycock Hill, but there was also Finniston Farm, with twins called Harry and Harriet, and an American boy called Junior, and Jock, who lived on a farm near a ghost train, if I remeber correctly.

In one of the Famous Five books they are sent skiing in Wales to recover from their bad colds (as good a reason as any).

Aside from the usuals there was a little barefoot shepherdess girl called Aily who couldn't speak English. And she had a pet lamb called Fanny. My that was a popular name with old EB.

I also remember a Tassie in another of her books.

Rory, Sheila, Benjy and Penny from Willow Farm

The mother in the Magic Faraway Tree books is Polly.
