We're pretty much agreed with Rosie but are wondering about a longer version - but he prefers Rosemary and I prefer Rosalie. I know its a Latin/French name (and I love Amelie/Emilie etc) but he sees it as southern US. I have also learnt that it is in twilight but that is no interest to either of us.

anyone know any good Rosalie's or have anything else to offer to help?

Its a lovely name. Roz-a-lee in France, Rosa-lee elsewhere. I had no idea it was a Southern US name.

Lovely girl at school was Rosalie, bit more unusual than Rosemary IMO but both pretty.

talkingnonsense · 25/02/2012 19:52

Prn rose - a lee or roz - a lee?

suburbophobe · 25/02/2012 19:55

There was a lovely girl at my son's primary school with that name, an exotic beauty, she'd been adopted (Brazilian I think).

I don't like Rosalie particularly, and it does remind me of Twilight (probably just because I have a pre-teen dd).

What about Rosalind, Rosalinda, Rosaline, Roseanne/Rosanna(h) or Rosamund?

IAmRubyLennox · 25/02/2012 23:07

Rosalind is much nicer. And better As You Like It than Twilight, IMHO.

CecilyP · 26/02/2012 20:35

I like it, and prefer it to any other Rose variation, but don't know if that will carry much weight with your DH. I like Rosemary too but it is very 1950s. Rosalie is less common, so not associated with any particular time. I associate it with the late actress Rosalie Crutchley.

tentative123 · 28/02/2012 18:56

hummmm, no consensus then.. should we stick with just Rosie?

How about Rosa? Would work with nn Rosie. And is a fab name as it is the name of my DD Grin

Dont know if it helps but the band thin lizzy have a wonderful song called rosalie. Might help if he's a rock fan?

CecilyP · 28/02/2012 22:33

I seem to remember that the other little girl (the one that wasn't Florence) in the Magic Roundabout was called Rosalie. As Florence has now come back into fashion, so should Rosalie. Think this may be clutching at straws.

midlandsnightnannybabysitter · 29/02/2012 00:06

I like rosa, rose & Rosie.

NonnoMum · 29/02/2012 00:20

Rosaleen? Rosella? Rosetta?

helebeth · 02/03/2012 09:15

Have yyou thought of ROSALIA (pron ROSE-AH-LEAH)

Cewafwb · 03/03/2012 22:02

We love Rosie but don't like the longer versions of it except love Rosanna. He might like it? Could go Anna if she doesn't like being a Rosie or a Rose?
