What names do you think are becoming more popular? Which are you seeing more and more of?

Depends where you live. In Scotland it seems to be quite traditional or regional. Lot's of Sophies, Lewis, pheobe, fraiser, oliver, lily.
Also lot's of made up names which are always good for a laugh!

The most popular ones in my circles would be James, Finn and Sophia, I know loads of these ranging from newborn to about 5.

These statistics have tables that show regional variations for popular names which I think are quite good for determining how many you're likely to find near you.

I think the cutesy -ie type names (Alfie, Archie, Ellie, Evie, Tilly etc) are starting to fall out of favour as people prefer more solid names.

But yes, to see what names are popular now (i.e. in 2010) have a look at the list of baby names - it lists how often every name (I think those used more than 2 times) was used in a year.

Lily, Ruby, James, Oliver, Sophie, Finn (millions of these),

Can't move for little Edwards round here. Also Eve/Eva/Ava type names still really popular, as well as Sophie/Sophia/Sofia.

And the old lady names have moved to a whole new level - Dorothy and Agnes are baby names I've heard recently.

Names I've seen a fair bit recently include:
Ava/Eva/Eve variations
Isabella variations
Beatrice
Isla

The only boy's name which keeps cropping up is Finn/Finlay - most people I know have has girls though recently!

Sophia's are everywhere here for baby's. You can't move for Lily's either. Lots of Poppy's, Isabella and it's variants and Milly, Tilly etc.

For boys Oliver has gone off the scale. Little Ollie's everywhere, jack, Charlie and Henry.

I think the cutesy type names you describe are still in tbh, they still are here and they've vlbeen going forever.

On the girl's side, Emily, Amelia, Emma, Imogen, Isabel and the Evie's Edie's Ellie's all seem to be popular still.

Oh and two baby Jemima's and Scarlett's

Fading are Mia's (of which i know quite a few around the 5 yr age), Freya's (3 yrs)

Yes, still lots of cutesy names - loads of Lillys, Archies, Alfies, Harrys, Sophies round here, as well as various Fin/Finn varions. But I think it is only a matter of time before more people tire of them....

'New' names I've been hearing recently include Stanley, Quentin, Mabel, Agatha, in other words more 'solid' sounding older classic names.

Everyone I know who's had a baby boy in the past two years has called him either Benjamin or Joseph - three of each. But I don't know that they're necessarily having a moment, more just classic and always popular.

Jacob, Daniel and Rebecca are the names I've heard most often for newborns recently.

Yup, Ava, Eva, Evie, Amelia, Ella, Olivia all mega popular among my friends.

For boys Joseph, Jacob, Milo, Toby, Olly, Ethan all coming up a lot... all with middle name James it seems!

Oh, and William and Samuel. Lots of little cuties by those names.

I second the Layla mention, and James as a mn, both cropping up frequently!

Go to a soft play and you're hear these loads, we've got an Oliver and trips out are a nightmare as we constantly hear someone calling for their son, we are always looking round.
