Julia is v pretty, all nn's are nice too. Sophie is lovely but a bit overused at the moment.

bradbourne · 21/02/2012 20:06

Both nice names, but I prefer Julia.

boyfallingoutofthesky · 21/02/2012 20:18

both nice names but Sophie sounds better with your surname - but very very popular, which would put me off.
Julia is lovely and not used very often but personally I really dislike alliteration and do not think it goes at all with your surname.

seren82 · 21/02/2012 20:52

Sophie is my name and Julia is my mum's name so I like them both! I would go with Sophie with your surname though, despite its popularity!

Sophie is wet. Julia is a bit sparky.

Julia.

MrsBovary · 22/02/2012 11:28

Julia. Sophie is lovely too, though every other girl seems to be Sophie, in my area at least.

JiltedJohnsJulie · 22/02/2012 11:29

Think Sophie goes better with your last name, not keen on Jules either.

mrsduff · 22/02/2012 11:33

Julia is my name and I am v grateful to my mum for choosing it for me :)

Sophie is so overused at the moment, I wouldn't.

Julia much better, although I agree with everlong that Juliet is nicer. Or even Julianne.

Tonksforthememories · 22/02/2012 11:55

Julia is my name too, and I love it now after hating it as a child! DH and friends call me Jules, DB calls me Jay, and my BF calls me Juke. (I like JJ too, like Agent Jerome on Criminal Minds!) Also grateful to mum, dad had some horrendous ideas!

I would agree that Sophie is rather overused at the moment, though the ones i know are lovely.

CharlieBoo · 22/02/2012 13:17

Sophie by a country mile....

Jules??? I just don't get it

PopcornBiscuit · 22/02/2012 14:10

Prefer Julia to Sophie, but prefer Sophia to both.

How do you get the nickname Poppy from Sophie? How about just using the name Poppy if you like it?

kerala · 22/02/2012 20:12

Sophie/a is officially full. There are too many I would find another name.
