I was chatting to my auntie the other day she is 80,and we were discussing names, she said she remembers when all the flower names came in like rose,Ivy lilly, violet etc,and then before then was all the mauds, marys gerties etc, maud and gertie are such ugly names, real basher type names haha.

her name is Audrey and she said she never knew where audrey came if it was a posh name,or pretty name,i said i didnt think it was pretty, but neither was it ugly.

Its funny how names come round again, like alfie, george, molly, kate etc..

I personally have gone for old fashioned names,i dont like the trend of the kylies or rhiannas etc,i like traditional good old names like Daniel,James,Emily etc..

you use to be able to tell someones age by the name they had like mauds would be in their 90s,and then gladwys 80, joan 70, monica 60,lyn 50,tracey 40 etc

I used to be able to guess (within 4 years), a womans date of birth if their first or second name was Louise. 1973-76. It was very popular during those years, especially 75-76.

I know that lots of people will now prove me wrong or find the exception, but I have done it lots and have only missed it once. But then her younger sister, born 17 months later, had Louise as a middle name as"they really liked it but thought they should use family names up first!",
