Ideas for French boy names - but relatively simple to say in English?

DS1 is named Jacques, as I am French but DH is English so we need to reach a compromise.

We both like Olivier but have 3 in the family already.

Any ideas greatly received!

Fabrice. (Thus gaining total admiration from every Mitford reading parent around!)

Etienne
Marc
Pascal
Henry

Quentin

(the problem with Olivier is that the English will stress the second syllable in my experience)

Our boy's name would have been Sebastien.
2 DDs but same problem french/british couple.
Sam, Paul, Matthieu and all derivates, Timothe, Alexandre, Cedric, Eric....

Bartiimaeus · 08/02/2012 11:28

We managed to get a list of names spelt the same but not pronounced the same if thats any help?
Sebastien
Samuel
Joseph
Dominic
Damien
Benjamin
Thomas
Gabriel
Fred
Noah
Theo
Leo
Charles
Arthur
Martin
Simon

My personal favourite is Matthieu as a French name but as we live in France (and will forever in theory) and DS is half French I wanted to at least give him an English name!

As for French names that can be pronounced by the English:
Xavier
Marc
Philippe

errrr. In fact all the blokes I know have very French names like Jean-Jacques, Pierre-Paul, Gautier, Gonzague (!)

Thanks guys! There are some lovely ones in this list. Will put a selection infront of DH and see if we can get some into a shortlist!

I really love Sebastien but have to do alot of convincing!
