We have chosen a name for ds2 due in a few weeks. I did a quick google to check the name with our surname and it came up with a notorious serial killer from the early 1900's I'm not sure if this is a problem or not.

I had never heard of this man before so WITHOUT googling do you know a serial killer with the first name Albert?

I'm sure you will find another name and at least you won't have the connection in the back of your mind.

Good luck!

Albert wasnt actually Albert Fish's given name, if that helps.

It probably doesnt.

PercyFilth · 07/02/2012 16:14

I don't know why you even had to ask, it's such an obvious no-no.

However!

If you like Bertie, all is not lost, as there are a fair number of other names which can have Bertie as a nn.

Robert
Hubert
Cuthbert
Bertram
Herbert
Gilbert
Lambert
Burton
Wilbert
.... and so on. :)

Prince Albert Victor was suspected of being Jack the RIpper

Never heard of Albert fish, just had a google, seems to think his name was actually Howard anyway Confused

PercyFilth · 07/02/2012 16:30

The thing is, he WILL google his name and so will all his mates. It doesn't matter if they'd never heard of Albert Fish the killer, they will do once they've done that. And they will then read all that stuff which is probably not a good thing.

maxybrown · 07/02/2012 16:39

well, I like it and just makes me think of albert and the lion you need a nice thick northen accent to read it though please Grin

PercyFilth · 07/02/2012 16:44

Yes, but he was Albert Ramsbottom, not Albert Fish.

pranma · 07/02/2012 17:07

I'm thinking more Albert Tatlock than Fish tbh!

(Aware this shows my age.)

smogwod · 07/02/2012 20:44

I love Gilbert!

motherinferior · 07/02/2012 20:45

I used to work with a bloke who was very unfortunately named Ian Brady.

BreeVanDerTramp · 07/02/2012 22:21

How about just Bertie?

sashh · 08/02/2012 08:25

If it is the full name don't do it. Most people by now have googled their own name - it might weven be a school project in the future to look for famous people with the same name.

lalabaloo · 11/02/2012 19:48

I wouldn't have known but would avoid it now if I were you. I think the name Robert Fish sounds lovely though, and Robert Fish could be a Bertie (Bertie Fish is a fantastic name!), and if you google him he is a Dr, architect or ceilidh band!
