Hi all,
What do people think of the name Toby? My husband loves it and it's not a common name here in holland (35 last year). I was just put off by a few comments from people in UK that it's a dogs name! ???
Thanks
Annabelle

It's a lovely name -- one of my favourite's, but dh doesn't like it. He is under the delusion that if we have a boy we will be naming it Jeremiah.

I did know a (dear departed) dog named Toby but I've never thought of it in that way. Growing up in the 80s, I associate it with the little boy who gets kidnapped by the Goblin King in the movie Labyrinth. In fact, if I was allowed to call him Toby, then I would probably sneak an Esher print into the nursery ;)

I have a Toby, short for Tobias. He does get called "tubby Toby" a lot though Hmm but I'm sure he'll grow out of that as he gets older!! I still like the name :)
