Too wierd? Would dd spend the rest of her life spelling it out to people?

Made it up as a combination of grandmothers names but turns out it is a real name meaning little winged one which is quite sweet . Pronounced ah lee da although a lid a would fit the grandmothers names better.

Hmm it is quite growing on me - bet dh vetos it though!

Any thoughts?

Middle names don't matter.

I have a friend called Arlyda pronounced arr-lee-da. It's Dutch apparently.

My dd, amongst others call her 'our leader' and my dd has asked me why she is our leader.

FootballFriendSays · 31/01/2012 11:57

I'm sure I've heard it IRL a v long time ago. Or was it an Italian actress?

Nettee · 31/01/2012 11:59

Hm I suppose there are worse things than our leader if you want to wind someone up about their name. No Dutch connection in our family though. I think you might be right about middle names soup dragon. Would rather it was after someone that a name chosen because we fancy it or it goes with the the first name. Have to be careful with initials though if a vowel is the middle name I suppose.

PopcornBiscuit · 01/02/2012 11:34

It's quite nice.

kitsmummy · 01/02/2012 11:50

iseen - I agree, it reminds me of a cut price supermarket, or maybe a Vileda supermop. Sorry Netty, not a name I'd like

kitsmummy · 01/02/2012 11:51

Hang on, I'm going to back pedal now. Just realised it's only a middle name, so will rarely get used, if you like it, go for it!

Nettee · 01/02/2012 16:33

Aww vetoed by dh as predicted - back to the drawing board

If you want to use her grandmother's names why not give her two middle names and use them both rather than forming one odd name from the two?
